Semester 2 Schedules

Semester 2 schedules will be available on PowerSchool starting December 15th. Students will also be able to pick up a printed copy during lunch.

Schedule changes will take place the first 3 days of the semester. Changes are only for students who have a hole in their schedule, a class they have already taken or a level change where parent and teacher have discussed and approved.


Class of 2018- We will meet with these students during the week of Jan. 5th. Request forms including parent signature will be due on Friday Jan. 8th

Class of 2019- We will meet with these students during the week of Jan. 11th. Request forms including parent signature will be due Friday Jan. 15th

FAFSA line by line- Financial Aid Night

Illinois Student Assistance Commission representative will explain how to complete the FAFSA form. This is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form that every college student needs to complete. Please join us to learn information and have questions answered.

PARCC results coming soon

Students who participated in last school years PARCC testing will be receiving their scores during school soon. Please watch the announcements and emails for additional information.

ACT Profile is a great tool for college and career exploration. Students who create an account can complete interest inventories, search majors, colleges and compare schools. Students who create accounts can also connect with their HHS Counselors.

It's never to early to start researching college and career possibilities.

ACT Testing

The ACT is important in determining the types of colleges in which a student will have the best chance for gaining admission. It is also one component of a students college application.

For testing dates, registration deadlines and more information visit

The deadline for registration is January 8th to test on February 6th.

Exam information

Semester 1 final exams will take place on Dec. 18th, 21st, and 22nd. Students should contact their individual teachers to determine exemptions.

Semester Exams count for 20% of a students semester grade.

Dec. 18th- Final exams periods 1, 2 and 3

Dec. 21st- Final exams periods 4 and 5

Dec. 22nd- Final exams periods 6 and 7

Meet Counselor Last names H-PL: Mrs. Mary Jackson

Mrs. Jackson is currently in her fifth year as a school counselor and ambassador sponsor. Before working in the counseling office she taught AgScience, Horticulture and was an FFA Advisor here for 7 years. Her love of career exploration and students brought her into school counseling. Mrs. Jackson is a National Board candidate, a member of the SAP team, SWIC Regional College Fair committee, Southwestern Illinois School Counselors Association, Illinois School Counselors Association, and Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling.

She is a Highland High School graduate and a native of Grantfork. Her undergraduate degree is in Agriculture Education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and her master's in School Counseling is from Lindenwood University. She currently resides with her husband and two children in Pierron.
