Principal's Message
Skyline K-8 Community,
Happy Friday! This week was a great week. It was so nice the sun was out.
Congratulations to our OBOB team who competed last Saturday and made the Top 8! They did an amazing job and it was so much fun watching them compete. A big shout out to Melody Hiser and Carol Reifsteck for leading this team of ROCKSTARS!
Our staffing is complete for next year, and I am so happy to let you all know we will not be losing any of our teachers. Several schools lost teachers and, so we were very fortunate.
I look forward to seeing you all at the auction tomorrow night!
Have a nice weekend!

Thank you all for another amazing assembly! As always it is great to be able to celebrate our students!
Next month we will be celebrating being Knowledgeable. To be Knowledgeable we:
“explore concepts, ideas, and issues that have local and global significance. In so doing, we acquire in-depth knowledge and develop understanding across a broad and balanced range of disciplines”

TAG Information
PPS is excited to host a TAG Parent Series focused on what it means to be gifted. The series will be facilitated by Dr. Ruby Dawn Lyman, Coordinator of Pacific University’s Talented and Gifted Specialization Program and teacher in Hillsboro School District.
Sessions will be held at the Blanchard Education Service Center (BESC), located at 501 N. Dixon (the WyEast conference room on Lower Level 2) from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., with 7:30 – 8:00 pm. for questions and social time . The session is for adults only as there will be no childcare at this meeting. The remaining sessions will be held on April 9th, and May 7th. As of now, these sessions will also be held in WyEast at the BESC.
This is a wonderful opportunity to interact and meet other parents of TAG students in PPS. We appreciate the opportunity to bring Dr. Lyman to PPS with such short notice and look forward to her sharing valuable information to our PPS TAG community.
Skyline Families who are interested in applying to Access, the Application is now available. You can find the application on the TAG website on the front page and in the ACCESS link on the TAG page as well. It is also on the ACCESS school website. The process guide can also be found on both the school’s website and the TAG website under ACCESS. Parents, you must also fill out a SchoolMint application. That link is also on the ACCESS application. If a child has already completed the ACCESS Application and was included in the lottery for the years 17-18 and 18-19, they only have to do a short form, which is on the ACCESS application, and they will still need to do the SchoolMint application. They do not need to go through the whole ACCESS application process.
A reminder that students applying for ACCESS must have a 99% in one of the 3 areas of TAG identification; Intellectual, Math and/or Reading AS WELL AS a demonstrated need for an alternative program. These indicators are also in the ACCESS Process Guide found on the ACCESS school site and the TAG Dept website. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any support.

Volunteers Needed!
We’re in need of at least 6 volunteers to help kids and their parents shop for clothes at PPS’s Clothing Center on Thursday, March 21 from roughly 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is Skyline’s second (and last) official volunteer day at the Closet this school year. It’s an extremely rewarding experience and a lot of fun. The Closet is located at the Marshall High School Campus, 3901 SE 91st Ave., Room C-56. If you’re interested in volunteering, please send an email to PTA Volunteer Coordinator Deirdre Hubler at: deirdre.hubler@intel.com.

*PLUS* Potluck Dinner in Cafeteria Throughout Evening!
Skyline Gymnasium & Cafeteria
Mark your calendars! Family STEM Night has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 1! There will be 20+ hands-on activities in the gym thanks to an awesome group of parent and Intel volunteers. We’ll have activities for all ages and grades. Parents and guardians are asked to accompany their kids from activity to activity, experiencing and learning about science, technology, engineering, and math, together.
And, don’t worry about feeding your kids beforehand! Simply come. We’ll have a potluck dinner in the cafeteria throughout the evening. I’ll circulate a Signup Genius in April; we’ll need volunteers to help with setup and cleanup, and to bring a food item from home to share.
Warmly, Clarissa Kearns

It’s time for Matching Donations!!
With the auction just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about matching donations.
What’s a matching donation, you ask? It is a monetary donation given by your employer to Skyline school that matches a charitable donation by you.
What is eligible for a matching donation? Any monetary donation to Skyline school with no goods or services received in return.
That means if you give cash, write a cheque, or raise a paddle at the auction and receive nothing in return, it is a charitable donation and eligible for a matching donation by your employer.
Here is a list of employers that we know match charitable donations:
Intel
Nike
Tektronix
Daimler
Wells Fargo
Baird Foundation
Legit Script
Planar Systems
Pacific Corp
If your employer matches donations and is NOT on this list, please reach out to the Foundation (erena.friedrich@yahoo.com) and let us know.
Skyline parents who work for Intel or Nike please note that you only have 90 DAYS from the date of your charitable donation to submit your receipts for the matching donation!!
We hope you come to the auction. We hope you have fun. We hope you give generously. :-)
If you do, DON’T FORGET to grab those matching donations!!
Sincerely,
Your friendly neighborhood Foundation
