Forms are available with the receptionist if you are a Veteran and will be attending. You student can pick it up and bring it home to you. Please have it returned by November 8th so we may prepare for the assembly.
Disciplinary Process Changes
Please note the following changes to the HJH discipline handbook:
- Consequence for fighting: If a student that has been in a fight this school year engaged in another fight, they will be assigned to TRACKS, the Hallsville DAEP.
- If a student fails to show up for lunch detention, they will be assigned after school detention. If they fail to show up for after school detention, they will be assigned ISS.
- 5 tardies in a marking period = after school detention
- 10 tardies in a marking period = ISS
HJH Golden "H" Award

Dixi Russell, 8th Grade US History
Ms. Russell is one of those people that is always on a mission for kids. She is a hard worker, enthusiastic about learning, and makes US History entertaining and fun for students. She is a quiet leader on the campus.
Staff members that nominated her say that she "is always willing to help out in any situation." Others have noticed that "she is exceptional with her students and she cares deeply for them. She is very energetic in her teaching methods and students love her!"
Thank you, Ms. Russell, for your dedication to our students, your team, and our campus. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.
8th Grade Field Trip When: Wednesday, November 7 What: College & Career Inspire Wear: HJH or a purple shirt Buses will leave 1st period and will visit Maude Cobb Convention Center for "Career Inspire" and then visit Kilgore College. Students will do a picnic lunch on campus before having a tour, and we will return to campus about 3:15. | 6th Grade Field Trip When: Monday, November 5 Where: Marshall Symphony Orchestra Dress: Nice but not formal Students will be leaving 1st period and returning before lunch. HJH Talent Show
Students may try out in 1 of the following categories:
- Host/Hostess - should prepare a 1 minute skit/speech that a host would give
- Solo Singing - must bring own music - we will have CD or they can have it on their phone
- Group Singing - must bring own music - we will have CD or they can have it on their phone
- Solo Dance - must bring own music - we will have CD or they can have it on their phone
- Group Dance - must bring own music - we will have CD or they can have it on their phone
- Miscellaneous - magic, instrumental, or some other talent
The actual talent show will be the morning of Friday, December 21st and students must be a "Bobcat VIP" to participate and attend. More details will come later regarding times for practices.

Attendance Incentives
- Per Grade Level: Above 98% = Electronics at Lunch
- Individual Attendance: Perfect Attendance/9 Weeks = Celebration during study hall
- At least 90% in each class is required for Bobcat VIP (9 week reward)
Reminders
- Homework Help is available every morning in our GCS lab (200 hall). Students to not need a pass.
- Attendance is taken every class period. Students must have 90% in each class
- Check your child's planner for updates on their behavior (positive and concerns), their academic goals, tutorial logs, and progress towards important skills.
Christmas Theatre Clinic Who: Students K-8 What: A chance for your child to be introduced to theatre and all aspects of putting on a production. Practices: December 4-7, 4:15-5:30 Performance: December 8th @ 5:00 PM Cost: $45 Proceeds benefit our HHS Theatre Department | Note from the Nurse November 5-7 will be spinal screenings for 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys. You must have a note on file with the nurse if choosing not to have your child screened. | Box Tops Our UIL team would love your Box Tops. These extra funds help with travel for our students to compete. Please turn in to the front desk. |
