Readers Workshop
We have been learning how to answer questions that are "right there" in non-fiction books. During this time we look back into the story to "prove" where we found the answer. Also, we have been learning about text features in non-fiction books. Below the students are working with a partner to find the table of contents, captions, labels, and the index in their stories.
As you read non-fiction books at home stop and discuss how these features can help the reader understand the story.

Hatching Chicks in the Classroom
- We have 12 eggs.
- It takes 21 days for the eggs to hatch and we anticipate they will hatch on April 21st.
- The incubator has to be kept at 102 F and the humidity level should be between 50%-60%.
- The eggs have to rotated 3 times a day.
- We are going to research the lives of chick after they hatch and defend our opinions as to where they live after April 21st.
Thank you for the support and making this wonderful experience happen in our classroom!
