Tashua School Weekly Updates
Mrs. Neumeyer, Principal
June 4, 2021
Dear Tashua Families,
We hope you all had a peaceful and reflective Memorial Day weekend. As a school community, we were able to engage in many meaningful events to honor those who sacrificed their lives to serve our country. Our students learned valuable lessons and truly understand we are the Home of the Free, Because of the Brave. Again, a HUGE thank you goes out to the Manna-Scaturchio family for purchasing the beautiful American flags that were planted by the students in front of our school. The flags have been collected and will be used again next year. This will definitely become a Tashua tradition along with our annual Memorial Day assembly! Those who attended the Memorial Day parade had the opportunity to meet Governor Lamont and Senator Blumenthal, they were both extremely friendly and spent quality time talking with our Tashua students and families.
Teacher of the Year and Paraeducator of the Year
I am thrilled to announce our Tashua Teacher of the Year and Paraeducator of the Year!
Our Tashua Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Beth Byers. Mrs. Byers has been teaching at Tashua School for the past 15 years. Prior to teaching in Trumbull, she taught in the Greenwich and Glastonbury school systems. Mrs. Byers is an outstanding educator who consistently fosters a positive and nurturing learning environment for her students, focusing not only on helping her students to develop and grow academically, but also helping them to learn the positive character traits of kindness and caring for others. Mrs. Byers' passion for learning is contagious to her students, motivating them to set goals and take risks. She is an active member of our school community, frequently volunteering to support our school based initiatives to enhance our Tashua School spirit!
Our Tashua Paraeducator of the Year is Ms. Aimee Marini. Ms. Marini has been a paraeducator at Tashua School the past 12 years. Each day she enters the building with a smile on her face, willing to assist students and staff members in any way to ensure their success. She has a positive "can do" attitude, always brainstorming ways to improve the instructional and behavior plans for students and continually volunteering for additional training.
Both of these educators are well deserving of these honors! It is with great joy that we are able to recognize these individuals and celebrate all of the contributions they have made and continue to make to enhance our school community.
One Book, One School Wrap Up
Thanks to all for participating in our school reading of “Appleblossom the Possum” by Holly Goldberg Sloan. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, as our school community came together to enjoy an exciting book demonstrating the importance and value of family. Some statistics to conclude our reading…
- We have 308 families at Tashua who read the same book!
- We read 40 chapters and 32,330 words in total!
- Strong classroom participation each morning with our daily after reading questions!
- And we had 100% accuracy for the answers which were submitted!!
Great job everyone! Now, all we have left to do is return the books! Please return your copy of the Appleblossom the Possum to your child's teacher soon as soon as possible, if you haven’t done so already.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, suggestions or good news to share.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Neumeyer
Principal
