Sample meal : Breakfast : Huevos rancheros , Whole wheat or bran muffin , 8 oz glass of milk (8 oz = 1 cup) . Snack : 1 pear . Lunch : Beef barbecue sandwich , spinach salad . Snack : cheese , and crackers . Dinner : Grilled chicken cesar salad , sweet potato soup , sliced kiwi fruit , 8 oz glass of milk . Snack : Yogurt with dried fruit , and nuts .

Calorie needs : For the first six months of your pregnancy , you won't need to have more calories than you did before you became pregnant . That's about 2,000 calories a day . However , during the last three months of your pregnancy , you will need an extra 200 calories a day , making a total of about 2,200 calories a day . Foods : Breads , cereals , cakes , muffins , butter , cream , milk , yogurt , cooked eggs , cooked meats , cooked fish/seafood , fruit , and vegetables .
