MATH NIGHT - JAN. 26
Attention, Nighthawk Families! Please plan on joining us on January 26 from 5:30-7:00 PM for a night of fun as we host the very first New Hope Math Night! This event will sure to be a hit, making Nighthawks of all ages think critically as they engage in play-based math! Attached is a graphic with more information. The event will end at 7:00 PM, so mark your calendars and don't be late! We can't wait to see everyone on the 26th!

LOCAL SCHOOL COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES NEEDED
As we begin planning for the 2023-2024 school year, we will be forming our very first Local School Council (LSC). The LSC is designed to bring parents and the community together with teachers and school administrators to foster mutual respect for each other’s concerns and share ideas for school improvement.
We are currently seeking nominations for parent representatives to attend meetings and serve on our LSC. The LSC at New Hope will meet four times a year. Elected members typically serve a two-year term and may run for re-election once, thus serving a maximum of four years on the council. However, for our first year in existence we will be looking for both one-year and two-year terms for each parent representative position to ensure board consistency at re-election years. Parent representatives on the school council shall be elected by, and from among, the group they represent. Employees in the school who are also parents or guardians of students enrolled in the school are excluded from serving as parent representatives.
If you are interested in serving as a parent representative on the New Hope LSC, please submit this form including a short biography that will provide information about yourself and why you would like to serve on the LSC. All nominations are due Friday, February 24th.
For more information about Local School Councils, please visit the Forsyth County School System’s website at: https://www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/page/326.

Lost & Found
Notes from Nurse G
Please make sure your student, no matter the grade, has a change of clothes in their backpack. We often have students who have fallen in the mud, spilled a drink on themselves, or have had an accident. The clinic has a very small number of long sleeve shirts and pants that fit our students. If you clean closets over winter break, please consider donating outgrown clothing to the New Hope Clinic.
Sometimes our little Nighthawks wake up not feeling well. It’s hard to decide if they are well enough to go to school. On the school nurse page of New Hope’s website, there is a section titled “Is your child too sick for school?” to help you answer those questions. A link to the page is also located here.
If your child has a health condition, new or old, that may require additional support while he/she is at school please make sure all necessary healthcare action plans have been completed and brought to school. You will find all required forms on the school nurse page of the New Hope website or by clicking here. Please have these completely filled out and returned to me as soon as possible so that we may make sure your child receives the continuity of care that he/she deserves.
If your student requires medication to be kept at school, a Request for Administration of Medication form (1 for each medication) must also be completed. If your child has a condition that does not fall into a specific form please use the Individual Health Care Plan. Additionally, please note most forms require both a physician’s signature and the parent/guardian’s.
Please be aware that any medication brought to the school should be done by the parent/guardian as no student is permitted to carry medication to or from school.
As always, thank you for your support!

Around Our Community

Seussical Jr. at the FoCAL Center
The FoCAL Center is proud to announce the opening of our next show, Seussical Jr. This is our annual Penguin Project production. Penguin Project productions are junior (abbreviated) musicals cast by actors, or as we call them “artists”, with special needs. They are paired with typical peers/mentors during all rehearsals and performances. All artists in our production of Seussical Jr. are high school students from Forsyth County Schools!
Seussical Jr. is a musical comedy based on the many children's stories of Dr. Seuss, with most of its plot being based on Horton Hears a Who!, Gertrude McFuzz, and Horton Hatches the Egg while incorporating many other stories. This heart-warming show is perfect for the all ages. Please consider supporting our extremely talented cast of young actors. Tickets for Seussical Jr. are on sale now.
Mamma Mia!
The FoCAL Center, in conjunction with Bellissimo Theatre Company, is proud to announce our next community theatre FoCAL Main Stage Production of the smash hit ABBA musical, Mamma Mia!
The story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs propels this tale of love, laughter, and friendship, creating an unforgettable show that you won’t want to miss!
