Ramona Tiger News
As the school year is well underway now, I would like to welcome you back to another terrific year. Our classrooms are evident of rich learning experiences, parents have been on site to volunteer, and overall, the start of the year was a very positive experience. Thank you for being a part of the 2015-2016 school year.
Please remember that we began a new policy of sending home all notices and flyers every Wednesday. You can check your child's backpack or binder for any school and district-related information on this day. If we need to send a flyer home on a different day due to an emergency, you will be made aware of the change.
Also, thank you to each of you for ensuring a positive dismissal procedure. I know it has been a change waiting outside for your child, but I believe this has helped to ease congestion and has provided our students with the safest possible environment.
CALIFORNIA ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT PERFORMANCE AND PROGRESS (CAASPP)
Back in April and May our 3rd-6th grade students completed the CAASPP, our online state assessment. Individual results will be mailed home soon.
Students will receive an overall score for each subject, ranging from 2,000 to 3,000. Overall scores will be reported within one of four levels: standard not met, standard nearly met, standard met, and standard exceeded. These new reports will also highlight students' strengths in key areas for both ELA and mathematics. ELA results will include information about the students' performance in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and research. Reports of mathematics results will include information about student's performance in problem solving, using concepts and procedures, and in communicating mathematical reasoning. The student's performance in these key areas for each subject will be reported using the following three indicators: below standard, at or near standard, and above standard. We will provide more information and support in helping you to understand these reports as the year progresses.
