Helpful Work Area Reminders
These tools promote your child's independence and consistency with spelling, letter and number formation, and motivation.
Below are tools that students use at school and you may find supportive at home.
Personal Word Wall - Students keep these next to themselves while composing writing pieces so these words are easily accessed and therefore practiced accurately over and over again.
B and D Visual Cards (bat/drum, bed) - If you are noticing that your child frequently reverses the letters B and D, it is handy to keep one of these visuals out during writing. The more they use it, they will commit it to memory.
Alphabet Strip - Promote proper letter formation if it is not yet automatic or if there are many reversals
Number Strip - Promote proper number formation
First, Then Cards - A visual reminder that after a task is done, there is something desirable to anticipate; talk about the goal for completed work and the incentive before beginning the task
