St. Libory School
Important information as of today - Friday, August 11, 2017
It's a great day to be an educator!
This is the first edition of this year's weekly newsletter. I have plans to send one of these flyers home every Tuesday beginning next week. To help save paper I will be sharing the newsletter electronically via email, twitter and link it to our St. Libory School website and Facebook.
I'll do my best to provide important information for that time of year. Please make plans to look for the newsletter every week and take the time to look it over. Communication is a huge key to success and I'll do what I can to provide the information needed to you as a parent.
It is a privilege to be your child's principal and I do not take the responsibility lightly. If you ever have questions, please contact the office or your child's teacher.
Sincerely - Mr. Herzberg
General Reminders at this time! Please review.
NOON DISMISSAL DAYS - With our lunches coming from Northwest High School we do not serve lunch on noon dismissal days. This is the same at Northwest High, Cedar Hollow and 1R. When they arrive home I'm sure they will be hungry.
WEDNESDAY DISMISSAL TIMES - Every Wednesday we will dismiss at 2:00 p.m. and the bus will run accordingly!
BAND - Mr. Meyer will begin band today with our students. All 5th graders will be going to listen to Mr. Meyer discuss a variety of things with them and after a couple of class periods, our 5th graders can decide whether or not they would like to participate. All 6-8th graders wanting to participate will begin today. Those choosing not to, will remain in a classroom and participate in a variety of activities. Band will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday! Wednesday's will be set up to work with small groups only. Tuesday and Friday's will be whole group instruction!
BUSSING - Thanks for being patient and flexible. We have completely new routes this year and after a few more days will have all the kinks worked out. We will do our absolute best to get your kids to and from school safely and on time.
SCHOOL TIMES - Classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. sharp each day. Please have your children at school around 7:50 and 7:55 a.m. On all normal days, we dismiss at 3:15 p.m. Each WEDNESDAY of the year we dismiss at 2:00 p.m. and the bus will run accordingly. Please put these times on your calendar.
RECESS - Our K - 4th graders will not have the 20-minute recess from 10:00 to 10:20 as they have had in the past. Thier PE / MUSIC times are now in the morning and we will make sure our kids get plenty of active movement within our general classes. They will have a 20-minute lunch and a 20 minute afternoon recess. Most days they will get 70 minutes of activity and on Wednesday's they will get 50 minutes of activity. Fortunately, instructional practices have changed over the years and our kids don't just sit at a desk the entire time they are being taught.
The Importance of Breakfast!
Please make sure you take 5 minutes each morning and make sure your kids get something to eat before heading to school. Our K-3 kids will eat at 11:00 each day and our 4th -8th-grade kids will eat at 11:35 each day. We also ask they kids do not eat ON THE BUS, but rather with you at home before they leave for school. We have children with specific allergies and don't want to risk anyone's health. Thanks for being respectful to everyone in our school. It is appreciated! - Mr. Herzberg
Jr. High Athletic Parent Meeting, Tuesday, August 15 at NW!
Next Tuesday night August 15 there will be a parent/participant meeting for anyone in 7th or 8th grade that wants to participate in Volleyball, Football or Cross Country. We will be sharing important information about paperwork, practice times, locations, schedules, and transportation. It is really important someone in your household attends. We also encourage your student to attend with you!
** All 7th and any new 8th graders will be given the mandatory 'impact test' during the meeting.
Practices will start on Monday, August 21, 2017! A letter will also be sent home today with those interested in participating!
