Alabama ESSA Draft Released - Feedback Deadline August 18th!
The ALSDE has released the draft of its ESSA plan and has requested feedback from stakeholders. I urge you to take the time to read the plan, check for library connections and offer feedback that you feel is appropriate. The link to the draft AND comment section is below:

Recommended Reading/Activity for ALL Alabama School Librarians/LMS & Supervisors
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, please take the time to read the ALA position statement "Definition of an Effective School Library Program" and compare it to the Future Ready Schools logo. "What" is supported in both places? "What" is missing? (Both are "supported" by ALA/AASL so it's just an oversite that we are looking for.) Start Strong-- End Strong!

State Aging Report
Last chance to participate in an updated statewide end of year survey (some have expressed that the beginning of school would be a better time to complete the requested data so I am extending one more opportunity). Without the participation of at least another 400 libraries, there will be no statewide data released. (Important to show "gap" for ESSA) If you choose to complete the survey this week, the link is below- please use last years data:
