School Dance & Non-Uniform Day

The PTA is hosting a dance this Friday in the gym from 2:30 to 4:30. There will be a dance off competition for singles and groups, and Virtual Sounds will DJ the event for us, so it should be a great time. Admission is $5 and concessions as well as spirit wear will be sold. We ask parents to promptly pick up their students at 4:30. We will follow the typical car rider line around the back of the building for pickup by the Media Center entrance. Because we recognize that our students want to look good for the dance, we are also making this Friday a uniform free day. For $2, students will be excused from the uniform policy for the day. This fee, which will be a donation to the PTA, is separate from the cost of admission to the dance, so everyone can participate.

Achieve 3000 Update

Achieve 3000 is a differentiated literacy program that helps students improve their literacy skills. During the week of October 12, all students will complete the pre-assessment portion of Achieve 3000 called "Level Set." Level Set is a multiple choice assessment that gauges the initial Lexile scores for students. The Lexile score is essentially a measure of students current reading levels.

Once the initial Lexile level is determined, students will read articles based on their Lexile scores with the goal to be to improve their Lexile scores over the course of the year. Research has shown that for students who complete a minimum of two Achieve 3000 activities each week, the Lexile scores grow by as much as 2 levels.

After the Learn Set assessments have ended, students will begin to use Achieve 3000 to expand their literacy skills throughout the entire year. If you have any questions, please contact a teacher for more information.
