I wanted to know what motivated Charles Dickens and why he did his work. It all started when he was a little boy he was always creative and he always liked to use his imagination. When he grew up his dad wasn't so smart with his money he was reckless and careless and that would cost him. his dad got thrown in jail for not paying his debts and he had the choice to bring his family with him, they didn't want to go with John Dickens the father of Charles but they didn't have any money either and they eventually had to go into the jail with their father and mother Elizabeth Dickens Charles mom. Then Charles found a job he hated it, it was a repetitive manual task but eventually he scraped enough money together to get his family out of jail that wasn't fun. I think he writed for the fun of it and he always wanted to influence people plus his dad took him on a walk one day and showed Charles his dream house and his dad said, "If you work hard maybe that house will be yours one day." and he got to use his great imagination to tell others about the Charles thought or did things and people could relate to the characters in the stories and that is why i think he did it.
The Victorian era of British history was the period of Queen Victoria's reign from 20 June 1837 until her death, on 22 January 1901. It was a long period of peace, prosperity, refined sensibilities and national self-confidence for Britain.
The industrial revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes in the period from about 1760 to sometime between 1820 and 1840 and it was around the same time as child labor and or poverty.
The child labor was harsh the kids would start working around 6 and have no pay also they would work for 12-14 hours a day! When a boy was 8 he would get paid and also as they go on they would work up in status and get a couple of more shillings each time.
Here are some other facts about Charles Dickens. His wife was Catherine Thompson Hogarth she lived from 1815 to 1879 the death of Catherine was tough on Charles and that is when his writing started to get back on him and he fell behind. Also Charles wrote 65 books.
