SCHOOL VALUE THIS TERM: 'TO BE RESPECTFUL'
These are for our Vogeltown learners to be:
Inclusive (Whakaru), Respectful (Whakaute), Original (Tipu), Courageous (Kaha) and Kind (Atawhai).
These values were chosen by the staff, learners and community of Vogeltown School in 2019.
This term we are focusing on being 'respectful'.
TE REO FOCUS FOR THE WEEK
KIA ORA VS WHANAU, FROM MR O
It has been another great week at our kura - it is so awesome to go in to classes and see the engagement and learning happening with our kids. A massive congrats to our teachers who continue to develop programmes and deliver them with a passion and purpose!
This week our school had its first meeting with Cath Leger from the ERO team (Educational Review Office). This process has changed from our last visit in 2017, and I was really impressed with how Cath and the ERO process has now become 'part of what we do' rather than a compliance model. Cath is with us for the next 3 years and then at the end of this time, the Vogeltown community and public will be presented with a report of how our school is going.
Next week we look forward to our first sports exchange against Central school! This is always a massive battle as we play for the 'Carrington Cup'. Hopefully we can come away with this cup as we did in 2021! I know the kids (and bigger kids) are really looking forward to this exchange.
Have a great weekend whanau.
Aroha nui, Mr O
WELCOME TO VOGELTOWN SCHOOL!
This week we welcome:
Kovin French and Sarah Nell in the new Rm 7.
Haere Mai, Haere mai! We know you will enjoy your time with us!
COVID-19 UPDATE AT VOGELTOWN SCHOOL - WEEK 2, TERM 2
We are slowly getting our attendance back up to our 'pre-covid' rate. Last term our average attendance was 86% of our school population at school, and this term (so far) we are sitting at an average of 90%.
We still have a few cases cropping up at school, however they are not at the same rate or numbers as we had in Term 1. Remember to keep washing those hands, wear a mask if you are feeling a bit under the weather and if your child(ren) is sick, then please keep them home.

MOUNTAIN BIKING WHAKAMATAU
Today we began our Mountain Biking Whakamatau. Our whakamatau is an extension programme for our Paetoki kids and is designed to be a lot of fun!
The process for being a part of this whakamatau is to go through an application process, be nominated by a parent, apply - show resilience, and then engage in the activity if selected.
This term we are doing Mountain Biking! A big thanks to the parents who can help out - thanks to Steve Venables who helped out today. Check out some photos below:

MR O'S FRIENDLY REMINDERS
1) Please remember to contact the school office if your child is absent. You can do this via Skool Loop, text 021 753 680 or ph 06 753 6843. Please do not use SeeSaw for student absences - these must come through the office.
2) Please be courteous before and after school with parking around the school sites. We have lots of kids and not enough parks, so please allow time to get to school and be patient around the streets.
Thanks whanau
Stay safe and be kind to each other. Thank you for the ongoing support of Vogeltown School, we appreciate the community we live in.
On behalf of the Vogeltown team,
