Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter
September 9, 2022
Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!
Dear Pleasant Valley Families,
Picture Day is Wednesday, September 14th! Please note that we will only offer one School Picture Day this year. An order form was sent home with your child. If you would rather order online, you can do so at mylifetouch.com and use our School ID, EVTDQ6H64
A local news station did a story on our customized Book Vending machine. It aired on Labor Day, and our Dean of Students, Ms. Kokely, was interviewed. Please click the link to view it!
If your child eats breakfast in the morning, please remind them that they should report to the cafeteria immediately upon arriving to the building.
This year, our building earned the Silver designation for PBIS from the state of Ohio. To learn more about our PBIS program, please click this link!
Please keep this in mind... If you hear something from your child that just doesn’t seem right, check with your child’s teacher immediately. Should safety ever be compromised in any way, I will promptly notify all families. Creating a safe, orderly, and welcoming learning environment is critical to educating and preparing our students to achieve their highest potential. The safety of your children will always be at the forefront. We have a very dedicated staff who work hard to ensure that your child is welcomed and dismissed safely each and every day, whether via car, bus, or walking.
I want to thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley! We are very appreciative of all of you! If you have any questions, concerns, or just a great idea you would like to share, please email me at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at 440.885.2380 any weekday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Mrs. Stephanie Boka

Attendance Procedures
If your child is going to be absent, please call our office at: 440-885-2380 no later than 9:30 am. If the absence requires a doctor's visit, please provide a doctor’s note when they return to school. Daily student attendance is a vital component of student academic success. With the requirements of House Bill 410, the state of Ohio requires each school district to communicate with families when a child is considered chronically absent.

From our PTA President, Monica Abbott
It was so very exciting to see all the new faces that came to join our first PTA meeting. Our worker bees are buzzing around getting some fun event planning started! We will have our first Scholarship Spirit Day on Sept 16th, "Hat Day." Join in the fun by wearing a simple, crazy, or fun hat for a $1 donation. Flyers will be sent home next week.
We need volunteers for our Wing Ding Fundraiser on Nov 5th (details to follow.) Please contact Heather Ashforth at heatherashforth.pta@yahoo.com if you can volunteer.
Our next meeting is September 21st at 6 pm in the PV Cafeteria. We will be starting with a Reflections Art workshop, so make sure you bring the kiddos. Some art supplies will be provided for your students to use. There will be a drawing for prizes for those that attend. Hope to see you there! If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please contact us at pleasantvalleyelementaryPTA@gmail.com
Not a member? Come and join our hive at https://pleasantvalleyelementarypta.memberhub.com/store to stay up to date on all our events. All are welcome!!
Birthday "Treats" & Invites
Store-bought individually packaged treats in the box or store-bought packaged cupcakes in a sealed container with an ingredient label are also acceptable. We have some learners with food allergies, so it is important that everything is prepackaged with an ingredient label.
If you DO NOT want your child to receive a birthday treat from a classmate, please let their teacher know.
In addition, birthday invitations may only be passed out at school if there is one for each child in the class; otherwise, they will be sent back home with the child.
