Fall Life Groups

Face to Face & Online Small Groups

Hosting Small Groups Outdoor, via Zoom, or both!

Working Through the Maze of Limitations, Distractions, and Possibilities

This fall Hanford CRC is pivoting people into outdoor or online small groups and we want to make sure that your group is as successful possible!

What you need to know about this semester

Group Sign-ups

All groups were essentially "reset" this semester. This means that ALL Life Group participants will need to sign-up for the group of their choosing this fall.

Here is the link to share: https://hanfordcrc.churchcenter.com/groups/life-groups

How do I know who is in my group?

Want to see who is in your group? Planning Center is at your service! Each of you has been designated as a Leader within your group on Planning Center. Here you can see who signed up, email members, update your calendar, add resources, etc. To access your Planning Center click here. You will be asked to enter your email address or phone number (based on your choice). An email will be sent to you with a login link. Please note that Planning Center does NOT use passwords for their users. I know it's weird, but that is the way their site is set up.

What if my group isn't full yet?

With so many options, sometimes people just need to be invited personally to join a group. Maybe even try to reach out and invite someone new to join your group!

Group Size

Group size this semester will be limited to 10 participants in total. We understand that this means some of our past participants will need to choose another group this semester and that this may be tough.

What can we do for members who want to sign-up after our group is closed?

With a reduction in the number of participants in each group, a great way to help is to continue to connect and offer words and prayers of encouragement while offering to help them find another group (OR start a group!).

Group Meetings

Groups can meet outdoors, via Zoom (or another digital platform), or a hybrid of both. What does this look like exactly? Well, that is kind of up to each of you. If you prefer to meet face-to-face we encourage you to do just that (COVID guidelines in force of course).

What about those members who cannot or are not comfortable meeting in person?

That's where Zoom comes in! Offering Zoom meetings -whether weekly or on occasion- is a great way to include people who are not able to meet in person with the group. Just don't forget they are there with you digitally.

What about Air Quality and Weather?

With the California Fire season in full swing, we realize that the air quality may play a factor in your ability to meet outdoors. Our church leadership has determined that an AQI of 150 or greater is considered unhealthy for all groups and warrants the cancellation of outdoor events. As Life Group leaders and Hosts, you are encouraged to consider what this looks like with respect to Air Quality and Weather for your group participants week to week and communicate accordingly.

Service Projects

This semester we are not offering formalized Service Project Sign-ups. This is due to the complications surrounding COVID-19 guidelines. We are however working with several of our local community contacts to offer some really great shoulder-to-shoulder options throughout the semester on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What are some other ways we can serve?

Service Projects come in all shapes, sizes, commitments, and passions. Human interaction and prayers are at a premium these days both inside and outside of our congregation. While the Life Group Ministry intentionally seeks local community projects and avoids "care packages" as service projects, during the COVID pandemic we must acknowledge that many cannot open their doors to guests/visitors making these options a great way to fill a need in the moment.

A key component of Life Groups is connecting through Social events. The first and last meetings are generally reserved for a group social.

What about COVID guidelines?

Although the church as an establishment is not authorized to host potluck style food elements, your groups are encouraged to consider what you are comfortable doing together. We only ask that you keep the health, safety, and comfort of your group in mind. Get creative!
