The Challenge of Racism in Therapeutic Practice

Talk and discussion.

Date 25th June 2016.
The Challenge of Racism in Therapeutic Practice.

Dr Isha Mckenzie-Mavinga

The talk will be focussed on themes and concepts from my books. ‘Black Issues in The Therapeutic Process’ and ‘The challenge of Racism in Therapeutic Practice’. Using new concepts and case material. These books unlock hidden areas of the therapeutic relationship, where often racism is not considered. Participants will be encouraged to dialogue and reflect on the challenge and consideration of racism and its intergenerational and intersectional context.

Dr Isha Mckenzie-Mavinga Psychotherapist, Reiki Master and Writer, taught transcultural workshops at Goldsmiths University of London for twenty six year and worked as a student counsellor and Senior Lecturer at London Metropolitan University.
