Weekly Update (July 27 - July 31)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Here we go!


We are looking forward to getting started this week with band camp!! A lot of time and organization have gone into planning and communicating procedures /protocols going into this week. We know that each of our students are excited to get back to a routine. Being allowed and able to go forward with each day comes the responsibility of each student to remain compliant with face masks and social distancing at all times from the moment they exit their vehicle until they get in their vehicle after rehearsal.


**Please refer to Friday afternoons email in regards to all specifics to this week which includes all links for self screening, maps for check in and login information for afternoon region masterclasses.**


Some important items:


  1. UIL Physicals and Medical History Forms must be turned in prior to participating in the first rehearsal. If you have not submitted these, please do so ASAP. You may email these to me (laura.sturch@pisd.edu). *9th grade students MUST have both the physical and medical history form* *Returning 10th grade students only need to submit an updated medical history form (no physical). If we do not have required forms, students will be sent home.
  2. MTK registration and gear orders...if you did not do this in May/June, please take care of this immediately (instructions below under MTK Registration).
  3. Hydrate today for tomorrow! Eat a smart breakfast each morning.
  4. Submit COVID self screening each day prior to arriving on campus.


Each student MUST have the following items for band camp:


  • 1 gallon water cooler (with name clearly marked on it). There will not be access to additional water sources/drinking fountains during our rehearsals, therefore a 1 gallon water jug should prove adequate for the duration of time we will be outside. As a note, please water & ice only in jugs. Avoid gaterade/powerade...they are full of sugars. If you want a source of electrolytes, I personally recommend NUUN tablets to add to water.
  • A hat or visor (to keep sun from face/eyes)
  • Flip folder
  • Lyre (specific for your instrument)
  • Wire music stand (for outside playing rehearsals). *Bring clothes pins or clips to secure music to your stand as we will be outside* There will be no sharing of stands as we will be mandating the 6 - 10 feet social distancing guidelines at all times.
  • Athletic shoes (absolutely no sandals, boots, flip flops, etc)
  • Athletic shorts/shirts (preferably moisture wicking tech fabrics...avoid cotton at all costs...trust me on this as an athlete!)
  • A towel (check with section leaders for size and color). We use towels outside to place instrument on when not used for marching/playing.
  • Individual hand sanitizer to keep in students bag


Each day is changing in regards to the ongoing COVID pandemic. Please know that we are devising a very safe plan in order to be able to bring our students back. Our updated band camp calendar is posted below and should be updated in our Clark Band Google Calendar.
