Into the Woods Jr - Barry & PCMS Musical Audition Information
The information below is from Alexis Duffy, Vocal Music Director for Barry School:
We are getting close to beginning the audition process for our spring musical, Into the Woods Jr! Miss Mahnken (the PCMS director) and I are very excited to be directing this musical. Here is what you need to know about the musical:
ANY Barry or PCMS student, grades 6-8 is welcome and encouraged to audition.
Auditions will be VIRTUAL this year. Students interested in auditioning need to join the Into the Woods Jr. Google Classroom for all audition information:
Classroom Code: kw26vjd
Audition instructions will be posted in the Google Classroom. Please refer students to the Google Classroom if they have any questions.
Callback auditions will be held IN PERSON on Thursday, February 4th at PCMS. Students will not know if they are being called back until the evening of the 3rd. Callback results will be posted in Google Classroom.
Not every student will be invited to callback auditions. If a student is not invited to callbacks, this does not necessarily mean they will not be cast in the musical
The final cast list will be posted in Google Classroom on Friday, February 5th.
Musical rehearsals will begin on Monday, February 8th. We will have musical rehearsals Monday through Friday 3:00-5:00 PM unless we do not have school or it is a PLC day.
A musical rehearsal schedule will be handed out the first day of rehearsal
Performance dates are April 16th, 17th, and 18th. If students cannot be at the performances for any reason, they should not audition for the musical. We do not cast understudies.
Unfortunately, students in the musical CANNOT participate in track. Students will need to make the choice between the two activities BEFORE auditioning for the musical.
If you have any questions about the audition process, please contact Mrs. Duffy (email@example.com). We are looking forward to an awesome musical!
Band Academic Lab
Starting next week, students can stay after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm-4pm for Band Lab! I will be here to provide students with any help they need on their instrument or just provide them with a place to practice their instrument. At 4pm, the activity bus will take your student home, or you can come pick them up. Anyone can sign up, and everyone is welcome!
If your student would like to sign up, a parent or guardian MUST fill out this form each time your student plans to stay after school:
If you have questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Chesney at firstname.lastname@example.org
Delaying Return to Full In-Person Learning for Grades 6-12
As we continue to collaborate with our local health authorities, the District has decided to again pause our return to full in-person learning at the secondary level. We will delay the February 1, 2021, return to full in-person plans in grades 6-12. In-person learners in these grades will continue with their current alternating schedule learning scenario (see February's Alternating Schedule Calendar linked here). In collaboration with the Platte County Health Department (PCHD), recognizing that community spread is still at a high level, it is not the right time to begin full in-person learning. In addition, workforce availability continues to be a concern. Our goal is to return to full in-person learning, when we have the support of our local health authorities, and we have the available workforce. We will continue to plan for such a return, but will also continue to monitor data and information in collaboration with the PCHD to make difficult decisions.
The Board of Education decided to reconvene on February 4, 2021, to reconsider the possibility of returning to full in-person learning. At that time, District administration will provide an update on their continued collaboration with PCHD. If it is determined that a full in-person return can be implemented with the support of the PCHD, a return date will be identified and final planning will begin to ensure a safe return. Moving forward, the Board of Education plans to meet every two weeks to consider our learning scenarios until the decision is made to return to full in-person learning.
Now that winter is upon us it's time to send a change of clothes for your child. From time to time, an accident happens! We want to make sure your child is warm and safe at school
Please send a bag with one outfit that includes a pair of underwear, pants, and a shirt.
Also, make sure your child has a coat for the outside temperature as we like to go outside to the playground from time to time. If it's 40-50 degrees: Your child should wear a jacket. If it's 30-40 degrees: Your child should wear a winter jacket, hat, and mittens.
Thank you for helping us make sure your child is comfortable at school!"
