Home of the Wildcats
Week of March 1, 2021
Dear Wildcat Families,
We are excited to welcome our students back to campus! We are celebrating the end of the third quarter with a Spirit Week sponsored by our Student Council! We encourage our DLA Wildcats to share their school spirit by emailing pictures to their Homeroom Teacher or Mrs. Guenther.
Wishing all our Wildcat Families a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Garrett and Mrs. Shannon

WSMS Learning Models
Wildcats enrolled in our Digital Learning Academy will remain online.
Wildcats enrolled in the Hybrid Learning Model will resume their previously scheduled in person days, with Friday as a virtual day for all hybrid students. Homeroom teachers have emailed families with students' scheduled days. Students will return to campus on March 1, 2021 and will continue their hybrid schedule the remainder of the school year. We will sustain the Hybrid Learning Model by grade level as long as the grade level enrollment supports the model.
Wildcats enrolled in the Five Day In Person Learning Model will return to campus on March 1, 2021 in a hybrid model for that week only. Students will attend classes on campus for two days and the other three days they attend classes virtually. Homeroom teachers have emailed families with students' scheduled days for the one week of hybrid. After we return from spring break on March 15th, students will return to campus Monday through Friday.

The Skill of Positive Intent-Positive intent starts in the heart and can open our minds. It upshifts the brain from the lower centers to the higher centers and frames situations in a way that all parties in conflict can problem-solve together. It helps produce win-win results. Always assume a child's motives are positive. Instead of seeing a child as having bad behavior or trying to make life difficult, shift the perception. Assume the child is simply trying to achieve a goal but lacks the appropriate skills to do so. When we attribute positive motives to a child's behavior, we position ourselves to teach and the child to learn. We also model respect and loving kindness. When we attribute positive intent to a child's behavior we are able to stay calm and help calm our children. We send children the message that their choices of behavior are not helpful when they are making negative choices. Most children are willing and motivated to learn a new skill, comply with adult commands, or choose a more appropriate behavioral response.
Challenge: Assume a child's motives are positive and shift your perception.
