A note from Mr. Dubinsky
During the week of October 18, our school’s social worker, Mrs. Payne, will be visiting all classrooms for the annual Erin’s Law presentation. Illinois school districts are required to provide age-appropriate Erin’s Law lessons to all students from preschool to eighth grade. The goal of this presentation is to help children feel empowered to report problems.
The Erin’s Law presentations will focus on keeping our bodies safe and how others should respect your personal space. Students will practice saying ‘no’ to anyone who is not respecting their body, and how to report the incident. Students will be asked to think of trusted adults in their life they could talk to if they felt someone was making inappropriate comments or physical touching. Younger students will hear the book “Your Body Belongs to You” and discuss its meaning.
The social worker does the Erin’s Law presentation one time during each school year. Guardians have the option to withdraw a student from a unit of instruction by sending written notice to the school principal.
If you have any questions about the content of the presentation, please don’t hesitate to contact Briar Glen's social worker Mrs. Payne.
Weekend challenge!
The weekend is here! I hope you enjoy some much-deserved relaxation this weekend.
Thank you for every share and donation you all have contributed to our fundraiser. We appreciate everyone’s support as we raise funds for PLAYGROUND UPGRADES. If you haven’t registered your student on mybooster.com, it’s easy to do this weekend.
Then, consider sharing with extended family and friends. And if you are able to, consider making a donation as well. Every share and donation adds up to make a big difference for our school.
If your family does get a donation this weekend, you’ll be part of the Weekend Challenge! Check it out — https://vimeo.com/566572678/87c32f2611
Thank you for supporting our school.
Have a great weekend!

Bus safety
If your children ride the bus, please partner with us in reminding them they must wear a mask at all times on the bus and stay in their assigned seats. Following these protocols is critical to their safety and the safety of the students around them.
Free app can help families track bus travel
Student snacks should not include any peanuts or nuts
Students should bring two masks to school each day
Halloween costume reminders
This year, students will once again be allowed to dress up for Halloween at school. Students can wear costumes after lunch. Student costumes should be non-violent. No students should bring a pretend weapon to school.
Even if your child’s costume has a mask, they will still need to wear their COVID-19 mask in school.
Costumes should be brought in a bag and students can change before the parade begins. There is no time for make-up or hairspray. If possible, costumes should fit over a student’s clothes.
More information about Halloween will be shared closer to October 29.
