Volunteers are Valuable @ Audie Murphy Middle School
Audie Murphy Middle School (especially the library) would not be able to operate without the assistance of all the volunteers. Mrs. Longoria, principal, spoke to the volunteers at a Christmas luncheon and informed them how valuable they are to Audie Murphy Middle School. Thank you volunteers for your devotion to Audie Murphy Middle School. Pictured below are: Mrs. Krahmer, parental involvement liaison, and Mrs. L. Longoria, principal, with the Audie Murphy volunteers.
More than 50,000 Free Books
What unordinary use do a t-shirt, a jacket, a baby carriage, and a milk crate have in common? Clue: They were all used at the Book giveaway in December. You guessed it. The T-shirt, baby carriage, the milk crate and other items were all used to haul free books and carry them away. That is what happened at the Book giveaway on Saturday, December 12th. The air was filled with excitement as community members walked away with their free books. Over 50,000 books were given away thanks to the efforts of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), First Book, PSJA administrators and Board members, the PSJA librarians and hundreds of volunteers. The library Coordinator, Mrs. Nora Galvan, joined this effort in order to promote literacy and instill a love of reading in students. Pictured below is Kimberly Olan and her siblings at the book giveaway.
Books Are Magical ( BAM ) Book Club social
The Audie Murphy Middle School Students attended a book club social where they had an opportunity to have a discussion about their book choice for the present six weeks and select their new book club choice for the following six weeks. They enjoyed ping pong, bingo (loteria), ring toss, and a hula hoop contest. They also enjoyed a nice meal of pizza. Parents accompanied students to the social. The book club has grown to about 70 members.
Fun, Fantastic, Friday
BAM book club members are able to enjoy Fun, Fantastic, Friday. Every Friday has been designated for book club members to report to the library immediately after they have lunch in order to enjoy a time of educational games. Pictured below is Aaron Pulido.
