DMMS Geography Bee

Dakota Meadows held its annual Geography Bee on January 11th. "The National Geographic GeoBee is an annual competition designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world.

Students in grades four through eight (4-8) from nearly 10,000 schools across the United States will compete in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee for a chance to win college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic GeoBee Champion." (from the Geography Bee website)

The Geography Bee champion this year was Zakaria Ibrow. He will move onto the next round and will take a test at DMMS to qualify for the state round of the Geography Bee. Congratulations to all of the participating students and Good Luck to Zakaria!

DMMS Spelling Bee

Dakota Meadows held its annual spelling bee on January 25th. Students took a prelimnary spelling test in their ELA classes to determine the participants in the all school bee. Students participating in this year's bee were:

February Conferences

Conferences are drawing near please "Save the Dates"!

Thursday, February 21st, 3:15 pm - 7:30 pm


Monday, February 25th, 3:15 pm - 7:30 pm

As we get closer to the dates please watch for an email from the DMMS office providing you with the online registration link. With this link you will then choose "one" of the dates listed above for conferences.

Registration will open on Monday, February 4th.

8th Grade Families - Please Read

Attention parents/guardians of 8th grade students:

February 4th & 5th - Mankato West High School Counselors will be presenting to the 8th graders the registration process during science on Monday, February 4th and Tuesday, February 5th.

February 11th - There is a parent/student registration information meeting at DMMS on Monday, February 11th in the evening. You should have received a letter from Mankato West High School regarding this.

February 12th - 15th - 8th grade students will register for high school classes this week during their science classes.

Students that have questions or will not be in school this week should make an appointment to meet with their counselor.

DMMS Student Council invites all students to the next dance on Friday, February 1st from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00. Please make sure you are there at 9:00 to pick up your child.

Homework Helpers

Homework helpers is a free program offering homework and academic assistance to K-12 students. We specialize in K-3 reading assistance, 5-12 math and science and K-12 English, Social Studies and History.

We meet Monday-Thursday 4-9pm and Saturdays and Sundays 12-4pm.

We can be found in the lower level Educational Resource Center (ERC) in the Memorial library on the Minnesota State University, Mankato Campus.

The College of Education is responsible for the organization of this program using work study and student volunteers. MSU students are program supervisors and tutors.
