A big Thank You shout out to FarmHouse Market, LuElla’s, Bauke Funeral Home and Bank of Colorado in Yuma for the yummy treats they provided to the teachers and staff during the In-Service last Friday.

Free Sports Physicals given by Yuma Clinic

Students athletes are required to have a cleared physical on file at the school to participate in middle school and high school sports each year. Free sports physicals will be given by the Yuma Clinic on Tuesday, May 17 at the school.


Students must have paperwork filled out and signed by parent before physicals will be given.

5th Grade Parents

Don't forget to attend the incoming 6th grade orientation on 5/19 at 5:30 pm. The orientation will take place in the cafetorium. We will be discussing the expectations of middle school as well as pre-registering your student for his/her classes for next year. Please have your student bring his/her Chromebook to be able to access Alma to pre-register.

Akron Senior Class and Staff Members recognized at the Alumni Banquet held last Saturday




We had a great turnout for the alumni banquet. A nice dinner was prepared by Mustache Enterprises. The evening included recognizing the alumni in attendance, the senior class, and special awards.

Alumni Scholarship Winners: Janessa Shook, Quincy Basler, and David McCaffrey.

A big thank you goes out to Jenn Koch who served as a the alumni president this year and put in a tremendous amount work in organizing this years banquet. Thank you also to the other alumni board members, those who played and supported the alumni golf tournament, and the class of 1979 for their continual support of the alumni scholarship.

OUTSTANDING DISTRICT STAFF MEMBER

Akron School Business Manager, Kelli McCaffrey, was recognized at the school board meeting on Tuesday night for receiving the NE BOCES Outstanding District Staff Member Award. The Akron School District is very fortunate to have Mrs. McCaffrey managing the school’s finances and supporting a wide variety of programs at the school.
