PARENTS WANTED!
We are looking for ABC London parents to represent the needs of gifted children in TVDSB and LCDSB. Parents do not need to have children attending school in either district, only have an interest in seeing the needs of bright and gifted children of all ages met within the educational system. Each school board already as one representative, so any volunteers would be integrated into a team and be fully supported as they learned their role. For more information about the role, which would be served on the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), you can click the link and also email abclondon@abcontario.ca for more information.

FINDING PEERS MADE EASY! - ABC LONDON EVENTS
The purpose of ABC London groups, events, and classes is to bring like-minded children together to learn and socialize, giving them opportunities they might not otherwise have in their daily life. Please click here to read more about the fun we have planned for this fall and to register.
This fall, we are pleased to be able to offer classes for children ages 5-13! No previous experience is necessary and no special skill set is required. Children only need to have a desire to meet other kids "like them".
Check out our events page for information about art classes, First Lego League Junior, hiking, and more. We will be adding more events in the coming weeks for both parents and kids, so check back often and check our Facebook page for updates.
Guided Nature Hike
This educational opportunity is appropriate for children ages 6 and up with a parent. Visit abclondon.ca to reserve your space. There is no cost for this event. ABC suggests a goodwill donation of $2.

In this newsletter, we'd like to offer you the work of a phenomenal organization. Called Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG), its mission is "to empower families and communities to guide gifted individuals to reach their goals: intellectually, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually."
They offer online webinars, conduct research, and publish numerous articles about the needs of gifted children. They also have a newsletter that you can subscribe to from their home page.
There are too many great articles to share here, so for today we have selected one: "Thinking Along the Same Lines" - what does it mean for gifted children to be with like-minded peers?
Upcoming Community Events
The international Caribou Math Contests begin this month. This is a series of 6 online math tests that are administered throughout the school year for children who enjoy math challenges. Cash prizes are awarded for top scorers. The competition is free for children in grades 3-4 or $15 for all tests for children in grades 5-12. Schools may have a license for this competition. The first contest is on October 19 & 20.
Math Challenge @ Western meets once a month throughout the school year, beginning in October. This is aimed at grades 5-12, though they welcome children who wish to participate at levels that are higher than their age would suggest if they require more of a challenge. Participation fee is $40 for as many sessions at as many levels as a child wishes.
October 10: Thanksgiving at Fanshawe Pioneer Village. Learn how pioneers prepared for the winter and enjoy a thanksgiving dinner. This is the last day the village is open for the year.
October 15: Go ENG Girl @ Western University. For girls grades 7-10. Registration is now open.
Original Kids Theatre Company's fall season is now on sale. There are several ABC London families with children in OKTC - check out their fall line up! You'll be glad you did!
