Physical Education programs in schools offer the best opportunity to provide physical activity to all children and to teach them the skills and knowledge needed to establish and maintain an active lifestyle. Physical Education teachers not only assess student knowledge, motor and social skills, but also provide instruction in a safe, supportive environment.
Technology
In the month of March, Technology classes will start a new website entitled First In Math. Each student has their own code to log into the program. Students are able to access this website at home and work on their math skills. Classroom teachers have login information. https://www.firstinmath.com/
Art
The art club has revealed some outstanding works by students who demonstrate exceptional skills and talent. Their work will be featured in our upcoming Fine Arts Festival that on Saturday, March 9th from 10am- 4 pm. This event will take place at Huguenot High School and will feature all of Richmond’s public schools, that include not only the visual arts K-12, but also music, band, choir, strings, and harp.
All are welcome.
For the History Festival we are working on the Freedom Quilt based on Harriet Tubman’s Underground Railroad. Students are learning that the Underground Railroad Quilt contained codes to guide fugitive slaves to freedom. The codes helped slaves who could not read, but could understand African symbols and designs, such as flying geese and the North Star. Students are excited about unraveling history through the secret codes.
