Welcome Back from Spring Break!
Everyone returned back looking so refreshed and full of energy! Spring break was a great thing! My break was intentionally uneventful. It was just nice to have a break and spend some time with family. It's also been so wonderful to see more smiling faces with our mask requirements lifted! There are more freckled noses around here than we realized! :-)
This week, we opened up our cafeteria seating to allow students to choose their seat within their classroom assignment. Because we are no longer contact tracing, and will be sending covid letters home to classes, we are allowing seating to be open within the classroom assignments, not the whole grade level. Seating will still be limited to three students per bench, and visitors to the cafeteria during lunch are not permitted.
You are still welcome to drop off a lunch for your child or sign them out to go have lunch together off campus. If you would like to join your child for lunch here at school, we are happy to find you an alternate location, such as a conference room, for you to enjoy lunch together; just not in the cafeteria at this time.
Thank YOU for supporting our schools with your vote!

The purpose of this form is to give you the opportunity to share any additional information that we may not already know regarding your child's learning style/environment for the upcoming school year.
Specific teacher requests or friend requests will not be accepted.
If you feel the need to submit this form, submissions will be accepted through April 4.

Arizona Academic Standards Assessments (AASA) and Arizona Science Assessment
This Spring, PVUSD students in grades 3rd-8th will complete a REQUIRED state test titled, Arizona Academic Standards Assessment, AASA. Students in 5th will also take a state science test titled, AZSci. Statewide testing is very important because it is intended to objectively evaluate whether your child has mastered grade-level standards for their specific grade level. The AASA and AzSCI will provide information that will improve how students are taught, how teachers are coached, and how we can better support students. The state test is intended to give teachers an objective measure of how your child is progressing and measure how they are academically growing compared to other students in the state. Additionally, the AASA can provide benchmarks for parents and teachers, students, and schools. All public schools are required to administer state standardized assessments to fulfill the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act.
The following table contains information about the testing window and subjects tested for each grade level. Your school will communicate site-specific information. If you would like to read more information about Arizona state testing, please visit the following website: https://www.azed.gov/assessment
Surrounding our testing dates, we would like to encourage a good night's rest, healthy breakfast, arriving to school on time, and avoiding the scheduling of appointments. Here are the dates we will be administering these assessments at Copper Canyon:
