Gladiator Greatness!
24 CCHS JROTC cadets (pictured right) graduated from JROTC Summer Camp, "Camp Solid Rock", in June 2019. These cadets spent a week at Elbert County High School completing such challenging tasks as rappelling off a 50 foot wall, land navigation, canoeing, drownproofing, tubing (behind a ski boat), leadership reaction course, Army drill and ceremony and other team building exercises. Congrats Glad Cadets!!
CCHS welcomes Summer Smith as a new Assistant Principal for the 19-20 school year. Ms. Smith, a veteran Gladiator, has served previously in the school as a math teacher, instructional coach, and scheduler.
Students Jordan Butler, Amari Manago, Amanda Ochieng, Elise Ochieng, Raymond Pan, and Ja'Kolbie Jones are featured in the National FFA's Video Center presenting their Supervised Agricultural Experience projects. Check out these Glads in action on the FFA's site.
CCHS sophomore Isabel Heesacker-Romero won a gold (individual forms), silver (open forms) and bronze (team forms) in Taekwondo at the 2019 AAU Junior Olympics.
Clarke Central's main lobby and hallways are now colored red and gold and feature inspirational quotes, logos, crests, and pictures of students. This renovation, overseen by our LSGT and Dr. Holly Ward, promotes school spirit and creates a welcoming and caring environment for the entire CCHS community. Junior Maya Cornish spent 6 weeks in Latvia this summer learning Russian through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) scholarship program (https://www.nsliforyouth.org). NSLI-Y is a highly respected program of the US Government through the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

2019 graduate Harvey Sugiuchi became an Eagle Scout after completing his project to restore the entrance to the trails behind Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary. Read about his accomplishments and see pictures of his project in the Athens Banner-Herald.

CCHS agriculture teacher Jillian Gordon Bryant is featured on the national FFA website for the great work she does at Clarke Central.
