How to Interpret the Information:
Grades under the "Q2" column indicate your child's performance for the past 9 weeks. Grades under the "S1" column reflect your child's performance throughout the first half of the year.
HPS grade promotion guidelines require students to earn at least 70% in all courses. Those who do not earn at least a 70% have not demonstrated mastery in the course and are at risk of being retained in the 2019-2020 school year.
If you find that your child has not earned at least 70% in one or more courses, please take the following actions: 1) Contact your child's teacher to learn more about his performance in the class, 2) Ensure that your child consistently attends after school and Saturday School tutorials, 3) Check your child's Skyward account or weekly printed progress reports every Friday, 4) Dedicate at least 45 minutes each evening to completing homework and/or studying, 5) Meet with Ms. Gorman, the Middle School Dean of Academics to devise a plan of action.
Thank you for your support with your child's education. If you have any questions regarding your child's performance, please contact Ashley Gorman at ameyer@harmonytx.org.

High School Girls FREE Computer Science Program
I'm Sylvia Butanda, program director for Established in 2002 in Austin, the mission of Latinitas is to empower girls to innovate through media and technology through year round programming including after school clubs at Title I schools, weekend workshops, one day conferences and summer camps.
This spring, we are excited to announce that we will be launching the Code Chica Certifications program for high school girls to get certified in a coding language.
Code Chica would employ Latinitas staff to provide entry level certifications in Javascript. Currently there is a space between introduction to code platforms such as those provided by Hour of Code and the intense multi-month long coding schools. Latinitas will fill the territory in between - the space where girls of color may drop out of the pipeline from introduction to expertise. Latinitas is not only building interest in computer science and STEM careers but does so with with lessons in dealing with stereotypes, media literacy, social emotional learning, and self-advocacy, but by demystifying who and what is tech with a cohort dedicated to them engaging with recognized coding curriculum and technology companies in Austin.
Expected measurable outcomes
40 girls in 2019 would get Code Chica certified, a higher level of competence in coding and preparation for a professional coding school
40 girls would be exposed to a higher level of code training from staff who reflect their own gender and cultural diversity
My hope is that this information can be passed on to high school girls interested in computer science or would like to explore this field through a free 8 week program that would offer them a $75 stipend to complete.
This program is open for girls between 14 to 18 years old and will be held on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm.
No coding experience necessary.
10 girls per cohort with a goal of serving 40 girls annually.
