ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT - Week of January 22, 2023
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
SWIMMING
Congrats to our Swim team on their many accomplishments at the Coaches Invitational at GCIT on Saturday.
Girls swimming placed 5th.
The Girls 200 Medley Relay of Katie Carlos, Denise Yushan, Kayla Nguyen and Rhylee Cornell took 1st place and also broke the meet record.
Katie Carlos took 2nd in 100 backstroke.
Rhylee Cornell took 3rd in 100 breaststroke.
Boys swimming placed 3rd.
Charles Schreiner took 1st place in the 200 freestyle and broke the meet and school record in the event. He also was 2nd in the 500 freestyle.
Leo Smilevski was 2nd in the 100 freestyle breaking the school record, and 4th in the 50 freestyle lowering his school record.
Dylan Dewitt was 3rd in the 100 breaststroke.
Boys 200 and 400 freestyle relays placed 2nd and 3rd respectively with the team of Michael Wojciechowicz, Leo Smilevski, Charles Schreiner and Dylan Dewitt.

EHT girls lost a hard fought game against Sterling High School 42-51. Sophomores Averie Harding, Ava Kraybill, and Lyla Brown scored 13, 12, and 9 points respectively. Seniors Lindsay Dodd and Kara Wilson brought leadership and energy at the defensive end.

EHT girls beat Millville 45-32. Averie Harding scored a career high 25 points. Defensively it was a team effort holding Millville to just 32 points.

EHT girls lost to Hammonton 40-53. EHT was led in scoring by Lyla Brown who scored 14 points. Ava Kraybill also scored in double figures with 12 points. EHT looks to bounce back in their senior night game on Friday 1/27.

EHT 27 vs Holy Spirit 56
EHT faced a tough Holy Spirit team to kick off our Youth Night celebration. The girls fought hard and rebounded well but eventually fell short to the Spartans. Skyler Wood scored a game high 9 points, Kayden Senior and Mariah Newman each added 7 and Leah McKoy chipped in 4. Player of the Game: Leah McKoy

After a slow start, the Eagles were able to pull out the win against the Pirates. Mariah Newman had a season high 26 points and Skyler Wood scored 13. The Eagles are now 8-2

EHT 31 vs Sterling 41
EHT outscored the Knights in the final quarter 12-10 and played aggressive defense but were not able to come away with the win. Cecelia Feldstein and Kayden Senior grabbed some key rebounds and played tough defense underneath. Mariah Newman and Skyler Wood combined for 29 points.

EHT dominated the Bolts on Monday. Kayden Senior scored a season high 12 points, Cecelia Feldstein added 10, Skyler Wood 9, Layla Wallace 4, and Mariah Newman 4.

ALDER GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Alder girl’s basketball team won their game against Brigantine on Friday with a score of 20 to 10. Scoring for the Eagles were Marissa Baxter with 10 points, Maddie Stickel with 5 points, Lilly Bertino with 4 points and Gianna Galego with 1 point.
The Alder girls' basketball team lost a tough game against Margate on Monday with a score of 25 to 19. The girls then won against Brigantine on Tuesday, 26 to 15.

Middle School Winter 1 Sports are in full swing.

Winter 2 sports include Co-ed Volleyball and Unified Basketball. Registration opened on Dec. 15 and practices will begin February 13. You do not need a physical to register, but you must have one to be cleared.
