EWSD COVID-19 Information
As news continues to emerge regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the primary concern for the Essex Westford School District is for the health and safety of our students, staff, and community.
The EWSD has been following the guidance of the Vermont Department of Health, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Vermont Agency of Education.
Click on the button below to stay up to date with all the latest updates from our District, as well as helpful links.
EWSD Project Gratitude and Essential Heroes
Did you know that many of our students are creating art to take part in the 'EWSD Project Gratitude?' Or that we recently started to try and honor the essential heroes in our community? Check out our EWSD Positivity page to learn more about each initiative.
We miss all of our students so much! If you would like, please share any photos or videos you might have of what distance learning looks like to EWSD Communications Coordinator Ben Dickie (bdickie@ewsd.org).
Financial Assistance for Local Families
Heart & Soul has been contacted by over 50 families who are in need of immediate assistance to meet basic needs during this challenging time, and they have provided direct cash assistance of $500 to 41 families so far.
Learn more about how you or someone you know can apply or how you can donate online. You can also read this story that highlights the amazing work done so far in the Burlington Free Press.
Kindergarten Registration
Eligible kindergarteners for the 2020-21 school year must be five years old on or before September 1, 2020.

2020 Census
The 2020 Census is nearly upon us, and the EWSD wants your help to ensure everyone in Vermont’s second-largest community is counted, only once, and in the right place. Why take the Census? It’s a once-a-decade chance to 1) make sure your vote counts in redistricting; 2) get a slice of the $675 billion pie for federal housing, infrastructure, and social service programs (did someone say pie?), and 3) help your local government plan for your wants, needs, and desires. See this VT Digger article to learn more about how the Census affects us all.
Taking the Census is easy and confidential, but watch out for scams, and remember that your kids depend on you to make sure they are counted! Not sure how to count someone? Here are some helpful tips. For more information, visit the 2020 Census website or reach out to your local Complete Count Committee representative, Darren Schibler by email (DSchibler@essex.org) or phone (802) 878-1343.
