CSD Superintendent Update
WEEK #31, April 22, 2022, Cambrian School District
Hello Cambrian Families,
As we approach May, I know that each of our school sites will be holding an Open House event, where families are welcome to visit the classrooms and campuses. Each of your children have worked hard to create artworks, classwork and projects that will be on display at the Open House. I encourage you to attend; it will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the fantastic learning environment where your child has been enabled to thrive. Our staff is eager to see you, connect with you, and celebrate the end of the school year with you and your family!
COVID CLINIC UPDATE
On March 15, 2022, HRSA announced that the last day to bill claims for COVID testing (in our case for Covid Clinic testing) through the federal program would be March 22, 2022. We were informed by Covid Clinic that they will now require insurance information for the testing services to be given, due to HRSA funding coming to an end.
Covid Clinic has started charging insurance companies, but bills should not go to families.
Please note that, although insurance companies send patients EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) that show the service rendered and how much was paid, EOBs do not require payment. If an insurance company claims it will not pay for testing, Covid Clinic still will not bill the patient directly. You will likely be receiving an email from Covid Clinic in regard to insurance information.
In summary:
1. Individuals should Not be charged for PCR tests performed by Covid Clinic, whether or not they have health insurance.
2. If an individual receives an actual bill, please contact the District Administration or Covid Clinic at k12@covidclinic.org.
3. If an individual receives an Explanation of Benefits (EOB), this is not a bill and no action is necessary.
Those participating in the School District No Cost PCR testing with Covid Clinic will not receive a bill from Covid Clinic or Medlab2020 for their testing services.
If you are not comfortable with providing your insurance information to Covid Clinic or you no longer want to participate, please contact COVID Clinic at 1-855-436-0963, email k12@covidclinic.org, or call your school to be removed from the weekly testing.
Other COVID testing sites are available in Santa Clara County. Click here to find a testing site near you.
Also as a reminder, Cambrian Schools are accepting at-home COVID-19 tests. Please use this form when using an at-home test.
SAFE SCHOOLS FOR ALL
I’d like to share with you the California Safe Schools for All webpage: https://schools.covid19.ca.gov/pages/parent-page, This page provides parents with resources and information on COVID-19 safety. Parents continuing to take action to keep their students and family safe are an important mitigation measure to stop COVID spread in schools.
Please be sure to scroll all the way through this entire newsletter; there is some fantastic news regarding our Cambrian kids in it – we’re very excited to share the good news!
Have a wonderful weekend!
SCHOOL BOARD OFFICE HOURS
Just a reminder that the next office hours for School Board members will be held next week, Tuesday, April 26; 7:30-9 a.m. @ Sartorette, Library, room 9.
This is an opportunity for the School Board to provide a status update. Although the Board members will be at each particular school in the district for office hours, everyone from the district is welcome to attend at any of the locations during the scheduled office hours. There will be two Board members attending each of the office hours, which will be informal in nature. We hope to see you there!
Parent Interest Survey: Independent Study Virtual School Program Option for 2022-23 School Year
The Cambrian School District would like to determine if district families have any interest in the option of an independent study virtual school program for the 2022-23 school year. This independent study virtual school program option would require that your child be educated daily through an online platform only.
At this time, we are not committing to offering an independent study virtual school program option for the 2022-23 school year nor are we asking you to commit, however, we just want to gauge if there are parents' interest.
We ask that you complete the survey ONLY if you are interested in an independent virtual learning option for the 2022-23 school year. Please answer the survey for the grade level(s) that your student(s) will be in NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.
This survey will close on Friday, April 22nd.

Ida Price Percussion & Color Guard Finish FIRST!
We are so proud! The Ida Price Percussion (IPP) ensemble competed in three different circuits this year (WGI, CCGC & NCPA) and went undefeated at all of their competitions. The 2022 season was pretty much a restart after pausing mid-season in 2020, with only one student returning from the 2020 season.
This season also included three returning students from last year's virtual season, which meant they had 9 brand new students (including five 6th graders) to train and redevelop the culture and expectations of the ensemble. Ida Price is the only middle school in the South Bay with a percussion ensemble that competes with high school ensembles in their class.
Ida Price Color Guard (CG) took on the challenges of the new year by starting in the summer. With only 3 returning members, the new group met and exceeded expectations. Some came with dance and movement skills but all learned how to use new equipment and performed beautifully. Ida Price is the only middle school in the South Bay with a Color Guard team, and they placed first among seven middle school teams. Ten of the team members are 8th graders, so we will be looking for both boys and girls to fill those spots next year!
Both the IPP and CG programs continued their high level of performance excellence and stellar representation of both Ida Price Middle School and the Cambrian School District. The directors and staff had huge expectations for the students - it didn't matter how they fared in the competition; first and foremost, the performers learned to show respect for one another and then how to represent Ida Price to their highest ability.
The district, staff and parents are so proud of the way these Price students were able to step confidently into their new roles as performers and bring success to the Cambrian School District. Congratulations!
