Bangor West Welcome Back

Imagine * Inspire * Innovate

Big picture

Hello West Families!

West Families,

I am so honored to be back for my sixth year as principal of Bangor West. Many of you may know me, but I wanted to share a little information about myself for those that don't.

I was born and raised in Bay City along with my three siblings. I have been involved in elementary education since I was a co-op student in high school. Since then, I taught for 10 years at the elementary level in Flushing Michigan, was a principal at USA schools for a year, and then had the opportunity to join the #bobcatnation at Bangor West for the last five years. It's hard to believe but that totals to 22 years in elementary education.

My wife of 15 years also works in education as a nurse in Bay City and we have three children ages 10 and under that attend Essexville Hampton Schools. We value any time we have together as a family. When I'm not working, I enjoy coaching my kids year-round and I love sports and the outdoors.

I can't wait to get to meet all of our new families and learn about their life experiences as well. I will see everyone soon!

Yours truly,

Craig Pfenninger

Bangor West Principal

Reconnect / Reengage

Welcome back! We look forward to seeing everyone again and can't wait for our West Family to grow this year! Communication emails similar to this will be sent out routinely throughout the year to help keep all of our families connected and engaged. We look forward to a wonderful 2021-2022 school year!

Open House

Our Open House this year is on Tuesday the 24th with kindergarten, first, and second grade open from 3:30-5:00, and our third, fourth, and fifth graders will be open from 5:00-6:30. Transportation will be available for everyone from 3:30-5:00 if you are unsure of busing or have questions about our transportation department. Families with multiple students at older and younger grades can come anytime, but to meet each teacher, it'd be best to come around 4:30-5:30 to catch the teachers while they are available. Families will collect paperwork that will be filled out while visiting West and then turned back in before leaving the open house.

Parking Lot Switch

For the safety of our students, we will be switching back to our pre-covid procedures for our parking lot. This allows students greater distance between themselves and the parking lot. The east lot (which is striped for buses) will be used for buses and the west parking lot will be used for parents. Do not park on the sidewalks near the building and only park where parking spaces are available.

Also, do not park on the bus side. This would force students to walk between buses and creates congestion and delays for the bus drivers when cars are pulling out in front of them.

Masks are mandated on buses and with a high number of school of choice students, there will be a high volume of traffic in the parent parking lot. Please be patient and understanding for the safety of our students. Thank you!
