Chronic Wasting Disease
How it may effect you.
How it will effect you.
Chronic wasting disease (CWD) has been known to wipe out whole herds of deer and elk. It effects the brain of the deer or elk, but we're not quite sure it how it spreads. It may be spread by bodily fluids, such as saliva. So one way you could try to prevent it is to lay off putting out mineral or salt sites, or putting out piles of bait, such as corn or other attractants. Some symptoms of CWD are disorientation, loss of bodily function, and death. If you were to kill a deer with CWD it is believed that it will not spread to you if your were to eat it, but it is highly recommended that you don't.
