From the Middle EMS and ELA
News from the Principal, August 8, 2019
Hello Parents and Families,
Thank you for the great turn-out at the TEC registration day yesterday. If you are still in need of support or have questions about registration and back to school, please call our main office anytime between 8:00--4:00 at 303-781-7817.
We are very excited to see you tonight at TASTE OF MIDDLE SCHOOL on the back patio (east parking lot of TEC).
The event goes from 5:00-7:00 and is open house. Come when you can; stay as long as you want. We will be serving FREE hotdogs, hamburgers (veggie option as well), chips, drinks, and dessert.
We will have games and activities for all ages, and our teachers and staff will be there to get to know you and your student. New ELA students and parents will meet in the Venue from 5:00--5:45 pm as well.
AND, of course, we are very excited about the first day of school.
All ELA students and 7th grade EMS students report on Tuesday, August 13th for orientation during regular school hours (8:20--3:41). On Wednesday, August 14th, all students will report the official first day of school.
We are looking forward to a great year!
~Annessa Hart, Principal
Our teachers and staff are hard at work...
Teachers will be taking some time to get their classrooms ready, and we will work with our district counterparts tomorrow during the district employee kick-off.
Student IDs...
It is our top priority to provide safe transportation to and from school for all students. Therefore, until student IDs become available on August 19th, 2019, we are asking students to provide their bus drivers with their class schedule (either on paper or electronically on their phone), or wear their 2018/2019 school IDs until the 2019/2020 student IDs are issued.
Once photo IDs are issued, students are required to wear their ID every day while in the building (this is true for EMS/ELA and EHS students). Students will be provided with a lanyard as well.

RESTORATIVE PRACTICE in Englewood Schools
Implementing restorative practices is about supporting the hearts and minds of students, teachers, staff, and parents so they are focused on strengthening and repairing relationships to establish and maintain healthy and productive learning communities. The focus isn’t just on discipline and responding to behavior concerns. The focus must also be on building connections as a way to prevent problems from occurring in the first place. From every day tools for the classroom to school and district-wide implementation strategies, learn about how to achieve dramatic results with Restorative Practices.

As we are continuing to focus on the work of our first and second 90-Day Plans in EMS, our teachers are engaging in high leverage work by using student data from classroom assessments to guide the next steps in learning. Our dedicated teachers are also dedicated learners.
