September Activities to share
Pep Rally
Pre-k 5 joined in on the fun of the Homecoming Pep Rally. The excitement of the cheerleaders and the introductions of the team players, fun was had by all.
Homecoming Parade
The homecoming parade looked a little different this year. Due to weather we decided to still have a parade just move it indoors. Students lined the hallways as they enjoyed "walking" floats, cheering on the South Prairie teams and collecting candy!
Special Guests
Our 2nd and 4th Grade classes welcomed a Hostfest guest into their classrooms to teach them about different cultures. Both guests brought music and dance to share with our students.
5th Grade Ag. Safety Day
Some of South Prairie's FFA students organized and presented many topics on agriculture safety to our 5th graders. A wonderful experience for all students involved!
2nd Grade Field Trip
Our 2nd grade class took a field trip to learn about agriculture in North Dakota. Topics included: baby animals (goats), Ag. Careers, seeds, ND crop food products, honey, Farm safety and much more.
A Message from our Elementary Principal
Happy October!
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying this beautiful fall season. It's hard to believe that we're already into October, and the school year is in full swing.
First, I would like to express my gratitude to all of our students, parents, and staff for the smooth and successful start to the school year. The dedication and hard work from everyone has truly been remarkable, and it's reflected in the positive atmosphere at South Prairie.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity for parents and guardians to meet with our teachers, discuss their student's progress and collaborate on ways to support their academic growth. Please mark your calendars for Oct. 16th & 17th, when conferences will be held. Click the link to sign up for a slot to visit with your student's teacher: https://signup.com/go/txLTiNg
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We continue to implement safety measures to ensure a secure learning environment. Please remember to follow all safety protocols, including student sign-in and sign-out at the elementary office during the day, visitor sign-in procedures, before school drop off and after-school pickup and parking regulations.
As we enter the heart of the fall season, I encourage you to take some time to enjoy the changing colors and crisp air with your loved ones. Thank you for your ongoing support, together we will continue to make South Prairie a place of growth, learning, and success for all our students.

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
South Prairie will continue to use a Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports framework (PBIS). PBIS is an approach schools use to promote school safety and good behavior. With PBIS, schools teach kids about behavior expectations and strategies. Our school teaches students positive behavior strategies, just as we would teach about any other subject. South Prairie recognizes that students can only meet behavior expectations if they know what the expectation are. With this framework everyone learns what is considered appropriate behavior, we will use a common language throughout the school, in class, at lunch, and on the bus, so students will understand what is expected of them. The focus of PBIS is prevention and not punishment.
Students will receive ROYAL ROCK slips throughout the year, highlighting one of our 3 school expectations: RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE & SAFE. Watch for these to come home on Fridays. As students receive ROCK Slips they have the opportunity to earn up to three BRAG TAGs that can hang from their backpack, to celebrate their positive behaviors with everyone.
