FDES NEWSLETTER

Join us on December 8th from 5:30-7:00pm for a fun night of story reading, cookie decorating, gingerbread house building, and more. It is a great time of year to get your child excited about reading and help them see how curling up with a good book during the cold winter months can be more fun than video games.

IN ORDER TO ENSURE WE HAVE ENOUGH SUPPLIES -WE NEED YOU TO RETURN THE GREEN SLIP THAT WAS SENT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND

FDES has a large number of car riders in the morning. In order to keep the drop off process moving in a safe and smooth manner, please be sure you are following all procedures.

• Drop off begins at 7:30am and ends at 7:50am
• Pull up as far as you can before your child exits the car. (This helps prevent traffic from backing up onto Cedarmeade Ave.)
• Parents should not get out of the vehicle. Allow school staff to open doors and get students out of the car
• Students do not have to wait for staff to open the door. If they are capable of getting out themselves it is fine for them to exit the car onto the sidewalk
• As soon as your child is out of the car and the road in front of you is clear, please pull out of the parking lot
• Stay in line and do not pass other cars in front of you
• If you would like to park and walk your child into the building, you will need to wait until you are through the car rider line. Please do not enter the parking area from the opposite direction. This area is marked as a one way road

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is a key element to student success. This year we are experiencing a high number of students who are absent due to illness. Please join us for our Attendance Awareness Night on December 8th at 5:00pm.

• 12/7/22 - 4th grade field trip to the Frontier Cultural Museum
• 12/7/22 - Equity Advisory Council Meeting at FDES beginning at 6:30pm
• 12/8/22 - Attendance Awareness NIght from 5:00-5:30
• 12/8/22 - Gingerbread Story Night from 5:30-7:00
• 12/22/22 - Early Dismissal
• 12/23/22 - 1/ 4/23 - Winter Break - No School for students
• 1/4/23 - Teacher Workday - No school for students
• 1/5/23 - Students return to school
