McAnally Intermediate

Counselor's Corner - April 2021

Dear McAnally Students and Parents,

We have 7 weeks of 6th grade left! Students will be working hard these last few weeks so continue healthy habits. Plenty of sleep and a healthy diet are important as many families get busy during the spring.

Top Parent Resources

Parenting is an on-going process of learning who your child is and what he/she needs to thrive. These resources are designed to help guide you in thinking about the best way to meet your child's needs.

Digital Citizenship

Common Sense Media

Common Sense Media is one of my favorite websites! Common Sense Media offers programs for families and educators on how to navigate the digital world with our children. They have created an AMAZING website (Wide Open School) in support of families and teachers during the Covid-19 outbreak. They offer lessons for core content areas, social/emotional learning and strategies for parents working with their children at home. Click on the link here to see some of their daily activities or the website below (Wide Open School) for specific lessons and activities per content area. Let me know what you think!

Please continue to monitor your child's use of technology while at home. Many of our students have district issued devices with filters. However, new websites have been created that our filters may not pick up. Be mindful of what sites your children use while online!

Managing Stress and Anxiety during Covid-19

Feeling anxious or stressed?

Taking care of your mental health is very important as we are living through a challenging time right now! Children may be worried about a loved one getting sick, missing friends and their normal school routine. Talk to your children about how they are feeling, have them journal or draw their worries and encourage a positive mindset to promote healthy coping skills.
