Board of Education approves two issues to be placed on the April 2016 Ballot
At the budget study session held on Monday night, the Board of Education voted to put two issues on the April 2016 Ballot.
1. Bond issue of 15.6+ million that does not raise the debt levy from where it was set in August.
2. Operating tax levy increase of .40 cents for operations, to offset anticipated budget deficits
Current levy is:
$3.3047 operations
$0.8800 debt
$0.0800 capital projects (this gives us money to fix things that break, essentially)
$4.2647 total levy currently
As a reminder, Bond issue/debt service levy money - - can only be used for bricks and furnishings, not people and not supplies.
Operating levy money is people money - it is the money used to pay the bills and salaries.
If the bond issue were to pass, the debt levy would remain unchanged from where it was set in August by the Board of Education.
If the operating tax levy were to pass, the operating levy would go up .40 cents, to approximately $3.70, which raises the total to approximately $4.66. The operating levy is needed due to anticipated deficit spending, in this, and coming years.
Questions about this should be directed to Kevin Freeman.

Peachjar eflyer system to begin on 2/25/16
Starting February 25, all Mexico59 schools will begin sending school eflyers directly to parents. The district will be using a free service called Peachjar to provide this service. Peachjar provides an innovative flyer management system that sends school-approved eflyers directly to parents' inboxes and posts them online. Now, parents can easily find and view flyers and take action immediately to sign up for activities and events. Paper flyers will no longer be distributed.
Each building administrator has the ability to upload flyers to the system. After they are approved, the flyers will be sent out via email. The flyers will also be available at each school's website.
If you have any questions about this process, feel free to call x2425 and talk to Jo Ann.
