Weekly Welcome from Mr. Toth

Time with Toth

Script from Video

Hello Rock Nation! I hope everyone has had a GREAT week on The Hill!

It was great to see all of our rising freshmen at this year’s Elective Expo Night! It’s always exciting to see our younger students who will be coming in next year as many of them see our amazing campus for the first time. As I said in our brief meeting, to any parent who might be worried about next year and the challenges of having a high school student just be reassured that we will do all we can to take care of your child and love them as our own. That is our mission day in and day out here at Rock Hill! I also want to thank Mrs. Cezanne Rowland, our lead counselor, and her team for helping organize such a great event. We have some incredible counselors on our staff and I am so thankful for all they do. Over the next couple of weeks they will be visiting with each student to ensure they have signed up for the correct classes. They will also be traveling to both our middle schools to visit with our incoming freshmen as well. As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.

I also want to highly encourage you to please make sure you double and triple check your elective options. This is what we go by when we hire our positions so it is extremely important that you and your student are 100% sure when making your selections. I would also ask ahead of time for your understanding if you come back next fall and want to change that this isn’t something we will be able to do at that time. Again, if you have questions or need more information about our electives please do not hesitate to reach out.

I also want to thank all our parents who came out to our Spring kickoff meeting for our Guardians of the Hill Program. As I have said in the past this is a GREAT opportunity for you to get connected with Rock Hill and make a huge difference on our campus. It is a completely flexible program and you can come as long or as short as you’d like, we just want you here. If you missed the meeting and want more information please send me an email and I’ll be happy to connect with you.

Lastly, I want to invite everyone to come out to our Spring Meet the Blue Hawks event this Wednesday, Jan 26 at 6:30pm in the Rock Hill Arena. This is a great time for us to celebrate our Spring Sports as well as see some awesome performances by our band, cheerleaders, color guard and Rockettes!

That’s it for now Blue Hawks! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and if you need anything at all please do not hesitate to reach out. Go ROCK!

Reminder to use Covid Screener

Rock Nation Parents and Guardians,

This is just a reminder that if you have a student that has tested positive for Covid and you have not completed the Covid screening questionnaire, please do so at this time by clicking the hyperlink COVID screening questionnaire.

You should also complete the form should your child(ren) have any symptoms and then wait for a district nurse to contact you before sending your child to school.

Lastly, please do not email our attendance office to report a positive case or symptomatic student. We will take care of the attendance piece on our end once you have filled out the screener and spoken to our nurse. (Please note - We do still need you to go into Skyward through parent access and enter the initial absence after speaking with our nurse)

You may Click here for more information about our current PISD COVID protocols.

Thank you for helping us to keep accurate documentation of our students. We also want to thank you for your continued support and understanding. Have a great evening!

Monthly Career Spotlight – January 2022

For the new year, let’s change things up a little bit. Instead of focusing each month around a specific industry, we are going to look at careers based on interests: animals, plants, art, technology, hands-on work, jobs outside the office, and more will all be explored in this year’s Monthly Career Spotlight.

For the month of January, we will highlight careers for people who learn by doing and want a hands-on job as opposed to a job focused on excel spreadsheets.

January Week 3: Hands-On Careers - Lighting Technician

Lighting technicians are often called ‘sparks’. These specialists work in the film, TV, and video production, as well as live entertainment venues such as sports and music. They are specially trained to operate technical lighting equipment. No two jobs are the same, which means that lighting technicians are, by necessity, highly versatile engineers, capable of performing a wide variety of duties in service of the show. In general, lighting crews are broken down into several distinct roles, and may include one or more electricians, dimmer technicians, programmers, lighting directors, and crew chiefs.

Students interested in becoming a lighting technician should be willing to travel, perform physically active tasks, and enjoy an unpredictable schedule. For more information, check out these resources:

For any questions about educational and career planning, I would be happy to meet with you!

Parent and Guardians,

We are so excited to be a part of the opening of Rock Hill High School and laying the foundation for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). As parents and guardians, we believe that we all have similar goals. We want our children and the students attending Rock Hill to laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained and to feel the support of those around them. PTO is here with the students and teachers in mind. Every decision PTO makes is with the focus of each and every student and teacher. We encourage you to join the PTO and stay connected with all upcoming PTO sponsored events.

Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to use via email at rockhillhighpto@gmail.com.
