Mrs. Darnell 1st Grade

Dear Parents,

It's hard to believe that it is almost October and Fall Festival is only a few days away!

I am so grateful to all the parents that have signed up to volunteer and/or have given a donation towards our Fall Festival - thank you!

If you have not signed up please note that we are still seeking donations for our 'Pamper Me' and 'Family Fun' baskets.

This week our spelling words end in similar sounds: an, tan, pan, Dan, top, pin, tin, on, sit, and ship.

  1. Dan can sit.
  2. Sit on top.

We are continuing to practice skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s in math. We are counting to 120 and building number combinations. www.abcya.com is a wonderful website that reinforces the lessons and skills we are learning in class.

In science, we will discuss technology. This includes engineers, problem solving, and identifying materials in an object; a house has a roof, brick, wood or a bike has wheels, pedals, handle bars...
