About 110 years ago a wealthy American named Percival Lowell was certain about inteligent life on mars.He set out to prove it he believed that the life was there for thousands of years. He caught the Mars bug.Percival used his whealthiness to build his own personal observatory to look at the strange canal things on Mars
These canal type things are what Lowell saw from his observatory in Mars's surface.

Early in the 20th century Lowell made an elaborate mathematical study of the orbit of Uranus. He attributed certain irregularities to the action of an unseen planet beyond Neptune and calculated its probable position. In 1905 he organized a systematic search for the planet by the staff of his observatory, and in 1915 he published his “Memoir on a Trans-Neptunian Planet.” Fourteen years after his death the search culminated in the discovery of pluto.
Percival Lowell was an astronomer, author and mathematician who founded the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff Arizona.
The naming and symbol for Pluto, which was discovered at his observatory, is in part derived from Lowell's initials.
