DAVIS HILL COMMUNITY UPDATE
October 1, 2018
I hope that everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall weekend!
I want to take a moment and thank everyone for an awesome Spaghetti Supper on Friday. While I hope I don't miss anyone... here are some well deserved THANK YOU/ SHOUT OUTS:
-Thank you to the entire Fundraising Committee for all their work coordinating and supporting!
-Thank you to all all of the volunteers who supported the event.. from those who helped out in the kitchen (some of you ALL NIGHT)... to those who helped set-up/ clean-up... all of the support was appreciated!
-Thank you to the school staff (Custodians! Teachers! Etc.) who pitched in to make sure that the night ran smoothly (and that the coffee got served).
-Thank you to everyone who came to eat/ participate in the silent auction/ etc.! Without your patronage... the night would not be a success!
-Thank you to all of our sponsors... the level of community support (from food to silent auction items) for this event is AMAZING!
-Thank you to our students... who were polite, kind, respectful, responsible and all around AWESOME in their various roles.
Busy week this week with our Book Fair and Picture Day... See the update below.
Kindly,
Jay C. Norton, Principal
*Don't forget to read through the entire update... there are always more dates in the Upcoming Events Section. If you have any questions/ concerns- please don't hesitate to contact me/ the office.
BOOK FAIR
The Book Fair will be open late (until 8:00PM) on Thursday, October 4th for any families that would like to shop together after school.
We are excited to continue our Davis Hill tradition of supporting the Wachusett Food Pantry and helping our neighbors who might need an extra bag or two of groceries to get by. Your monthly generosity makes a HUGE difference! Davis Hill is one of the largest contributors to our local food pantry (see www.wachusettfoodpantry.org for more information)! The 'suggestions' on this list are JUST THAT-- suggestions. We happily will take any non-perishable, non-expired items. Collections are held the first Wednesday of each month from 8:45-9 am. (A bin will be left in the lobby for afternoon Kindergarten students and will remain in the lobby until Thursday for students who many have forgotten their donations that day).
OCTOBER THEME: Crazy Hat/ Hair Day
OCTOBER SUGGESTION: Canned meals; canned pastas, beef stews
*Dressing up is optional and should honor the schools dress code policy in regards to modesty and safety.
PICTURE DAY ON THURSDAY
SCHOOL STORE
Link Here for registration... Hope to see you on the course!
POLICY REVIEW/ LOST ARTICLES*
The school will not assume responsibility for any items (brought to school by students), which are lost or stolen. A Lost and Found area is maintained in the cafeteria. On a monthly basis, unclaimed clothing will be donated. Pupils are encouraged to turn in any article found to the Lost and Found Area. Items coming to school, including lunch boxes, book bags, coats, hats, boots, and mittens should be clearly labeled with the student's first and last name.
*We respectfully request that students do not bring toys/ cards (Pokemon/ etc.)/ stuffed animals or personal possessions from home. These items can easily become lost, damaged or be ‘traded’ with friends.
