First Grade Ninjas
Friday December 19th Celebration
- The last day of school before our winter break is Friday, December 19th. This will be a half day and school will be dismissed at 11:30am.
We are all starting to get a little excited about the fast approaching holidays here in Grade One, and as a result have planned a celebration day across the grade level.
On Friday 19th December we are planning a “Polar Express” day, initiated from the book and movie of the same title. To start the day, we would like to invite you to a pajama morning in your child’s classroom from 7:30-8:30.
This is an opportunity for you to share some quality reading time with your child, and for them to show you just how much they have achieved since the beginning of the year. Be prepared to snuggle up with your child in their comfortable reading spot in the classroom as the Polar Express train begins it’s journey!
At 8:30, the children will then bid you farewell as they set off for the celebration of lights assembly with the rest of the Elementary School.
After the assembly, the children are going to have an opportunity to collaborate with the rest of their peers in Grade One. Each classroom will become a ‘carriage’ of the train and host a variety of fun, child-led learning focused activities. We are going set up the outdoor space as a picnic area and we will be sending home some information about snacks your child could bring to school to share closer to the time.
One of the activities will involve a design and build project using recycled materials. Could you start to collect any old cardboard boxes, cereal boxes etc. and send them into school with your child?
Please be sure to let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions.
