Whale! Whale! What have we here?
Nothing, if we keep hunting them!
The Issue
The way we sustain ourselves takes away from the environment's sustainability. Humans and human actions are the cause of whale deaths.
Whales have been hunted for thousands of years. At first, it was controlled, then it gradually got worse and worse. Almost to the point of extinction.
While there are policies in place to prevent whaling, some countries still continue the hunt.

Whale and Dolphin slaughter in the Faroe Islands
Every year, about 700 pilot whales and dolphins are slaughtered. Once hunted for food, now the animals have high levels of toxic pollutants.
We oppose the slaughter for the safety of the animals and the humans who consume them.
We have met with government officials of the Faroe Islands. We have been able to show a spotlight onto the whaling issue in Faroe.

Whaling in Japan
Japan has exploited a loophole in the Whaling Convention that allows scientific research on whales. Over 6,000 whales have been killed for "science" since the ban in 1986. Products of the research are sold to the public.
We oppose Japan exploiting this loophole. They commercially whale under the rouse of scientific research. We want full international bans on whaling.

Whaling in Norway
Norway has also exploited the loophole in the Whaling Convention and resumed their commercial whaling claiming it for "research". Each year the number of whales they slaughter increases as they continue to ignore the International Whaling Commission's pleas to stop. They claim the whales are a threat to fish stocks, however it is the humans that are to blame for this.
We oppose Norway's attitude towards the IWC and their actions towards their "dwindling stocks". We want full international bans on whaling.
