In School Testing
In accordance with BCPS COVID testing protocol, in school testing is available for those that develop COVID-like symptoms during the school day. This means individuals are eligible for in-school COVID testing if COVID-like symptoms develop during school hours. This BCPS protocol applies to both staff and students. Individuals that develop symptoms outside of school hours are asked to stay home and access outside clinics and care providers for testing. For the health and safety of our students and staff, please do not come to school to access COVID testing if you have symptoms. Schools are not equipped to function as testing centers. Parent consent is required before student testing may occur. Thanks for your consideration. (contact: Ms. Katie Potter-Lanier klanier@bcps.org
Quarantine Guidelines
BCPS Metrics for Partial or Full-School Closures
Consistent with the Maryland Department of Health definition, five percent or more of unrelated students/teachers/staff (minimum of 10 of these individuals) testing positive for COVID-19 in a 14-day period is a consideration. However, please note that the 5 percent threshold does not automatically result in school closure. If a decision is made for a temporary transition to virtual learning, parents/guardians at the school will be notified
Ms. Pat - We Will Miss You!
It's with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we share the passing of cafeteria service worker, Ms. Patricia Sands. Ms. Pat passed away suddenly over break on December 24th. Ms. Pat's kindness, caring smile, and enduring patience will be missed greatly by all of us. She will forever live in our hearts for the way she shared her kindness and looked after our students.
Green Club
The Green School Club closed out this season by making terrariums out of recycled soda and water bottles. Our club members planted lavender, mint, and basil.

Access for ELL Students
Each year, students in English learner programs take the ACCESS for ELLs language proficiency test. The test measures academic English language proficiency for students learning English in our school and throughout our state. Mays Chapel students who receive ESOL services will be taking the ACCESS for ELLs test between January 10 and February 18. Test results will be shared with parents and guardians when they become available. See the attached resources for more information about these tests. You may email Ms. O'Melia (lomelia@bcps.org) or Ms. Chisholm (cchisolm@bcps.org) with any questions.
