The Weekly Howl
St. Francis Catholic School - Sunday, March 14th
Dear Parents and Friends of SFCS,
Congratulations to all our students who received their 1st Holy Reconciliation last week! They are one step closer to receiving their 1st Holy Communion on Saturday, May 8th at 10:00am.
The date for Confirmation was set this past week. Our school and parish confirmandi will be receiving the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in becoming in closer union with the Bride of Christ on Sunday, May 23rd at 4:00pm.
This Thursday we will be having another Spirit Day hosted by the SFCS chapter of the National Junior Beta Club. Please check out the flyer below for what items are needed.
Last night we "sprung forward" for Daylight Savings. We talked with the students on Friday about going to bed at the appropriate time tonight even if we were not tired and if it is still light outside. We hope they remember our advice and look forward to seeing everyone wide awake on Monday morning :)
Have a great remainder to your weekend!
Sincerely in Christ,
Brian Pope
Principal

Prekindergarten
Kindergarten
It was a SUPER SCIENCE week in Kindergarten! They began by mixing solids and liquids to fill a balloon with gas and then transferred this concept to art and painting with their bubbly shamrocks. The students had so much fun and their brains were growing with inquiry and new ideas. Miss Mabel brought her pet Thor (bearded dragon) in for a visit and Sergeant Washington even joined in on the fun! Mr. Gavin helped Kindergarten start our garden and planted radishes and carrots. Thank to the families who donated the seeds!
2nd Grade
Wednesday, March 10 was a very special day for our students who made their First Confession. They were anxious, excited, nervous...but well-prepared to continue their faith journey towards First Communion in May!
5th Grade
8th Grade - Social Studies
8th graders completed projects for WWI, The Great Depression, and WWII and presentations began with Jeopardy today! Board games and other presentations will be coming!
SFCS Developmental Basketball League
Some pics from this morning’s Basketball Developmental Program. Had a blast working with these kids over the past couple of months! As always, this program wouldn’t be possible without the support of the awesome parents and volunteer coaching staff! Be on the lookout for the school’s summer camp signups coming soon!

Effective March 16th the Saint Francis Thrift Shop will be adding some hours for customers to shop. The new hours will be Tuesday-Friday from Noon until 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. Our hours for receiving donations will be from 10 a.m. till Noon on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Volunteers are still needed in all capacities but especially as cashiers, furniture merchandisers, and jewelry sales. If you are interested in volunteering, contact the Thrift Shop at 843-689-6563 or email the shop at Stfrancisthrifthhi@gmail.com.
The Women of St. Francis invite all parishioners in our "Fundraiser for Scholarships" for the students at St. Francis Catholic School. While our popular event, "Soup for Scholarships" will not be serving actual soup this year, we have created an opportunity to still support our students. On March 13/14 and again on March 20/21, the Women of St. Francis will be outside of Church after all Masses. For a donation of $10 or more, donors will be given a thank- you of a hand-painted soup bowl with a brand new surprise recipe inside. We will also be selling our fabulous cookbook, "Soups, Salads, and Breads" for $10, which includes recipes from our members, parents, and our student baking club. All proceeds from this event and cookbook will provide scholarships to students at St. Francis Catholic School. For any questions, please call Mary Sullivan at 843-715-0075.
We have set up FlockNote! You can go ahead and sign yourself up for FlockNote clicking on this link. It also has a mobile app that is free for you to download. Check it out! I will be switching everyone over to this email communication. It has so much more to offer for everyone!
