Hello, Longwood Families!
It was a week filled with fun at Longwood! Thank you to our outstanding PTA for hosting fantastic friendship parties on Wednesday! We appreciate all of our parent and community volunteers for creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for our Lions! Thank you for spending the evening with us on Thursday for Open House! We loved being able to see our students show off their hard work, their teachers, and our school. We appreciate your support for the Book Fair and PTA's $1 Bingo, too!
Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences are on February 29th from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Spring conferences are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Unlike the Fall, just one day is dedicated to spring conferences, so appointments are limited. Teachers will reach out to families to share if a conference is necessary at this time. If your child’s teacher does not request a conference, but you have a concern, please reach out to your child's teacher to reserve a remaining conference time. We appreciate your partnership and ongoing support!
A friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday, February 19th, in honor of President's Day.

Have a wonderful long weekend, Lions! See you Tuesday!
Thank you for being a part of our Pride!
FIGHT FOR LITERACY
The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) and Northwestern University joined the #FightforLiteracy! Thanks to their involvement, International Paper has granted Longwood K-3 Students a $5,000 gift for reading resources! Representatives from our school attended the Northwestern Basketball Game to accept a generous donation from International Paper!
As a member of the Longwood community, you have an important opportunity to share your feedback and thoughts on our school's effectiveness in the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This 10 minute survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and growth in standardized test scores.
The survey is open now until March 29, 2024. Please complete the survey today! We are at 15% family participation so far!
To take the survey, please visit http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ and select begin. Select DuPage County and select Longwood. We greatly appreciate your participation and helping to provide key insights for improvement at your child's school!
Grade 3-4-5 State Testing
Grade 3-4-5 Families,
During the Month of March your student will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) for ELA and Math. Students in grade 5 will also take the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA).
We have a secret mission for families to create a surprise for your child!
Our goal during testing is for every student to have a note of encouragement waiting for them on their desk before beginning their IAR test. Words from the people who mean the most to them - their family and friends! Please click the link to submit an encouraging note for your student. Messages will be printed on stationary paper and delivered to your student our second morning of testing. Submit your note HERE
We appreciate your partnership in making your student's testing experience a positive and successful one!
