The day we remember
Remembrance Day
Remebrance Day is a very special day. It is the day that we remember the men and women who served their country in times of war. Remembrance Day is celebrated on the eleventh of November because the eleventh of November 1918 was the day that the first world war ended. This day was a very significant day because it signified the end of the worst war that had ever been fought. There had never been a war of that magnitute fought and the king of England decided that they should celebrate the end of "the war to end all wars".Unfortunatly, that was not the end of all wars. In 1939, the worst war that has ever fought broke out and over 40 million people died. Following this conflict there was the Korean war, The Vietnam War, The Gulf War, The Iraq war and the Afganistan war. On Remembrance Day we remember the people who fought and died for their countries in these wars. Who will you remember this Rememberance Day?
