Hello Mill Valley Families.


What a great week we had last week celebrating Read Across America (CLICK HERE to see pictures from the week). To continue our love of learning and reading, Mill Valley hosts a Family Reading Night towards the end of the school year. In the past couple years participation has declined. We would like to gather more information about your understanding for the event and what we could do to increase attendance. Please take this short and simple survey to help us grow.

COVID-19 Update

This message was sent to all district families today via Infinite Campus: COVID-19 Update Letter #1 We want to be prepared in case of a school closure. Please send an extra bag with your child tomorrow [Friday, Mar. 13th] to help transport extra materials and books.


Classroom teachers have been asked to review the following information with their students around the Covid 19 virus: Elementary - COVID-19 Student Education Script. Our goal is to encourage healthy, preventative habits. Each teacher will modify to fit their classroom needs. Please consider reviewing the information and reinforcing a similar message at home. If you have additional questions, our district nurse is updating the health services website regularly.

Mark your calendars...our Forward Testing Window is Monday, April 6th ~ Friday, April 24th.

All 3rd and 4th graders will be taking the Forward Test. Below is the schedule for testing days and times.

Please keep in mind...


  • testing will take place in the morning, (please schedule appointments in the afternoon)
  • please ensure your student gets enough sleep and has a healthy breakfast
  • arrive to school on time (testing will begin promptly at 9:15)


We thank you in advance for your partnership in making your student’s test days successful.

New Lunch Schedule during Forward Testing

From Monday, April 6th through Friday, April 24th , all specials and lunch schedules have been altered to accommodate for an uninterrupted morning testing window. The new lunch schedules are as follows:

Kindergarten → 11:00 - 11:30 (recess to follow lunch)

1st Grade → 12:00 - 12:30 (recess prior to lunch)

2nd Grade → 11:45 - 12:15 (recess to follow lunch)

3rd Grade → 12:45 - 1:15 (recess prior to lunch)

4th Grade → 12:30 - 1:00 (recess to follow lunch)

The Mill Valley PTO is Sponsoring Cards for a Cause! Are you tired of spending too much money on greeting cards? How does $1 per card sound? Save money and support the PTO at the same time!!

Orders are due on Friday, March 20th. Checks can be made payable to The Mill Valley PTO. Exact cash will be accepted too. Card boxes will be available for pick up in April.

As of February 28, 2020, 27% of our absences this school year have been due to personal or vacation days. Understanding that there are many educational opportunities for traveling, the teaching that goes on in the classroom each day, including what your child contributes, is irreplaceable. Whenever possible, please try to schedule vacations on the days that we do not have school.
